    Default Happy THANKSGIVING....

I know I'm not out there anymore, but I've spent many a holiday eating in a Flying J or Petro for the holiday meal. For those of you that can't be home, enjoy the best you can. If you have your wife/SO with you, enjoy even more because no one has to do the cookin'.

For those of you that are fortunate enough to enjoy the time at home, enjoy your turkey (or ham or what ever), the punkin pie, and all the trimmings. Eat hardy. Your diet starts at 5 AM on Friday.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

We have a lot to be thankful for, and my dad, and our family are thankful for the memories of my uncle, my dad's brother. My dad's older brother passed away this morning. If yall don't mind, keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
My uncle was 76, but you wouldn't have known it. He raised horses, and he was an avid golfer. He woke up this morning with a headache, and he had pain in his thigh. He fixed breakfast and a while later, he just 'collapsed'. He'll be truely missed.

    Sorry for your loss Jackrabbit!
My father-in-law passed quickly like that, all dressed up on his way to church. He was driving, and slowly drove across the intersection he was at and stopped in a snowbank slumped over dead. He was 76 and healthy too, and didn't show any health problems.

Another member here lost a close member of the family too, just yesterday, unexpected as well. I hope we can all be thankful for the blessings we have, and keep each other in our prayers. There is always much to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, and may God bless your families.

I am sorry to hear about your uncle, Jackrabbit. It is always especially difficult to lose a family member on a holiday.

I hope that everyone had a very good Thanksgiving. It is indeed a time to be thankful.

Sorry to hear about your uncle, Jackrabbit. We've got a beautiful day down here. I understand that traveling in the northeast may be interesting. Hope none of you are stuck somewhere that you don't get to enjoy. I've had that happen a few times.

I'm home and have 2 of the 3 grandkids here today - the 3rd one was here yesterday and will be back later today. I've got 90% of the cooking done - just have to toss stuff back into the oven for a few minutes to heat it up. I thought about staying out this year for Thanksgiving, especially since I'm taking a week off over Christmas, but couldn't stand the idea of getting stuck with eating at a Subway (or some other craphole) for a Turkey day meal.

Everyone enjoy your time off (if you get it, anyway). For those of you still on the roads today, be safe. I'll be back out there tomorrow (if they can find me a load).

Right back at ya, Darlin'. And if I'm going to see something from you as often as in the past months, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Valentine's Day, Happy St Patty's Day, Happy Easter....

I'm very sorry for your loss, especially at this time, Wabbit. Sounds like he was very special to your family. But, like you said... your dad had a whole lifetime up until now to enjoy such a good brother. That is a life well lived and one greatly appreciated. Sounds like he enjoyed his life, too. Horses and golf... it don't get much better. I'm glad to hear that your father is still with you. I bet he's got lots of good stories about your uncle. And I'm sure your uncle was very proud and fond of you.

If you feel like sharing, I'd love to hear any stories you'd like to tell of him. A real-life cowboy, I bet! Born in the 20's... in Texas? (maybe Oklahoma.) Close enough. Bet he broke a bronc or two in his time! A real American, no doubt.

It may not seem like it right now, but in future years I hope you will celebrate this holiday with the spirit of Thanksgiving for the many years that he was a part of your life.

I will keep you in my thoughts... as I always do.

I always thought of that as... Not really impersonal... I dunno, not really appropriate? Too "generic"..
