Well he didn't exactly beat it, they impounded his truck and he is facing some burglary charges. The $65 toll would have been much cheaper to pay in hindsight.
Or in foresight, for that matter.
Back when I was driving, I paid very few tolls. There were a few times I could not avoid it, but generally, the roads I took don't have any. Of course, NYC was not on my map.... $65 toll??? Looks like I didn't retire any too soon. Glad I'm not paying that one. I always thought $30 was vastly overcharging.

I would not be surprised if more people didn't try to beat the tolls the way they are raising rates. This guy's toll will be rather costly for him.
Yeah, it's going to cost him. But, I can't say I blame him either. The last toll I paid to cross the GW was $35, and I saw that as being much too high. I have not yet been retired for two years, and the toll is $65? That's nearly doubled. Inflation has not gone up that much, and neither have wages. What's the justification for the increase? The toll has been too low for so many years? Don't the residents realise what that does to their own costs?
