2012 ProStar programmed to apply the brake when overspeed?

From what i understand from the dealerships i have visited in the last days:
The latest program they put on the 2012 prostars has settings where you can set the engine brake to come on at a certain speed and even apply the service brake at higher speeds. The driver can literally do nothing to override this, so basically if you come down a hill, get over a certain threshold (say 68mph) the engine brake comes on wether you have it switched on or not, then when you come across a sudden hazard like slippery conditions your likelyhood of a tractor jacknife or other loss of control goes up....Now somehow i cannot imagine that this will test well in a courtroom when the first hotshot lawyer represents a truck-crash victim $$$$$$. I think international does have some issues with this programming as they were not able to disable or adjust it on my truck. My carrier seemed to know nothing about it either, they sent me to the dealer. Anyone having these issues, im at a loss as to what to do atm. I dont want my truck to become international's test bunny for debugging their software.

You have the MaxForce engine? How's the engine brakes on it?

According to International the engine brakes are very good, but most carriers adjust it in the computer to where its not all that from what i understand.

I know that the engine brake in my 2012 ProStar with the Intl engine sucks. It doesn't engage for 20-30secs after you hit the brake and has no holding power. I just pulled a load (36,000lbs) down I-57 in Illionois and the stupid truck can't hold itself back on a 0.1% grade. The REAL hills should be fun - really looking forward to going down Sandstone on I-64 with a 45,000lb load...

You will end up like the truck I saw there a few months ago Mal. First sandtrap, he was past the entry point when he decided he needed to use it, drove thru the ditch and into the sand. He ended up flipped over with a total loss truck and load but he survived. Hope you never get into that situation bud, stay safe

The 2007 Volvo I used to drive with a Volvo engine had some really worthless jakes on it. I run I-5 and had to constantly pretend I had no jakes at all. I actually went down hills like NB down the Siskyous at 30mph most the time with a heavy load and stab braked. All the schooling I learned came back to me real quick.

I dropped my trailer in Laredo this afternoon and had to some local running (bobtail). For the hell of it, I left the engine brake on the High position. It can't even slow down an 19,000lb bobtail. How's that for worthless?

Actually the computer limits the engine brake when bobtailing to avoid 'issues' But like i said, the engine brake has several different settings that can be edited in the computer and many companies turn it down like everything else. Eitherway Malaki, if u do have a 65mph truck and this programming it only takes a little overpass to make u fast enought to where the engine brake kicks in, so i think u would know...unless you like to puttputt at 60mph

The truck is running at 62mph right now (until the mpg's rise). On the hill in Illinois I mentioned earlier, I hit the top of the hill at 62mph and was going 75mph at the bottom. The brake kicks itself in @ 3mph over the top speed, and, yes, it did engage @ 65, but did absolutely no good whatsoever.
