    Default Long Island street vendor

Ok you you've drawn the short stick, you're headed to Long Island. If you've never been there before you can trust me, it sucks in more ways than you can imagine. For starters, always keep an eye on your right fender mirror. Just because the lanes are marked showing a single lane is entitled to make left turns that doesn't mean anyone is worried about Johnny Law. 2 or 3 lanes will make left turns when you least expect it. In fact, Long Island will start getting easier for you the day you start making lefts from the right lane (when the situation calls for it and NO FREAKIN WAY will I pay your ticket if you're stupid enough to listen to me).

Oh yeah, the reason for the post. There's a street vendor on the eastbound side of I-495 at I-278. He's right before the turn off to Laural Hill. I've gotten dogs there a few times and they were good. The last time I was there a "regular" comes up and gets the usual - a mild Italian Sausage. I ask him if they're any good. He tells me "hell yeah, I've been coming here for 16 years to get them".

Anyway today I got one and it was almost the perfect sandwich. It's an unfinished symphony. It needs some sauce. So far it's a good roll with the great sausage and the required NY grilled green pepper and onion mix. It's an 8.5 or 9 out of 10, it just needs a little bump. Before handing it to me the guy asked if I wanted hot or bbq sauce on it. Hmmmm Next time, oh next time we'll get it right. The guy behind me got the Philly Cheesesteak and he was no tourist either! Maybe next time I head down that road.

    Highly recommended!!!

I'd rather go to the closest Pilot and buy a frozen one to toss into the microwave than to go to Long Island anytime soon.

Another place with great Italian sausage is South Street, Philadelphia. Of course, that's someplace you're not going to go with a truck unless you have no choice. I've delivered at a lumber yard/building supply there, and that sandwich I had really spoiled me for any other. I've had sausage from that vendor on Long Island, and they are good, but South Street in Phila is far better. The only place in the whole country I have ever had them that good. Just the smell is INSTANT HUNGRY.
    Destroy the cities...
    and they will rebuild them.
    Destroy the farms...
and grass will grow in the streets of the cities.

Destroy the economy of the blue-collar worker...
and grass will grow in the executive offices.

    The bill has come due.
