    Default Christmas

I hope i'm in the right forum. What most do you like about Christmas?I have several things and i'll list a few.I love xmas music,it really puts me in the spirit.Seeing the bright smiling faces on children and adults, the sharing, caring and giving.Everyone will almost everyone has alot of love to go around.I do like to help the less fortunate when I can.Too bad the kindness and generousity only comes during the holiday season.Last year I spent my xmas in Baltimore at a trk stop.Even the east coast 4wheelers were nice, can you believe that,LOL.I might stay out again this yr,I have'nt decided yet.

That'll be fun watching her open or rather tear open her gifts,LOL.I think the adults get as much fun if not more just watching the kids have fun at xmas time.

Being the recipient of my son's constant barrage of all of the xmas fliers in the paper and what he wants, just the innocence and his excitement, and the explanation to him what Christmas is really about. Egg nog, The Carpenters and Andy Williams. My wife, son and me picking out the tree and putting up all the decorations around the house. The "anticipation" of snow, we had a blizzard last xmas eve and it was awesome. The family dinners and of course the morning itself.

I like being with family, the smell of cooking and thinking about the true meaning of Christmas. I don't like leaving "Christ" out of Christmas. There is way too much emphasis on getting and receiving presents and Santa Claus. It is almost taboo to discuss the real meaning of Christmas. In fact, without Christ we would have no need for Christmas. I don't mean to be preachy, but it we seem to have lost the meaning of Christmas.

What I like... having Christmas with my own family (wife, son) now. It's amazing how your life changes, when you have a spouse/family.
Dislike... Santa is now coming to our house!

Every year, the week after Thanksgiving the wife begins her holiday baking ritual, Chocolate covered pretzels, Almond cookies, Some sort of Itlalian cookie rolls, Sugar dusted chocolate cookies, two types of Fudge as our youngest is alergic to nuts, and at least 4 other types of cookies. I can still remember watching our girls help do it every year until they reached the age of 15 and then all of a sudden they have more imortant things to do, so this year she has the grandaughter helping out should be interesting as she is only 3 years old.

I Got all the decorations out of the attic yeasterday and lined up against the garage door ready to get set up next weekend and the yearly ritual of pitching a fit because last year when I put the lights away they all worked and now for some reason there will be a least 5 strands that wont work.

Hey Timberwolf, Are the powers to be ever gonna let you go back to your original name?

Funny you mention that Freebirdfd, because just as soon as I finished this last post about my wife's holiday ritual I emailed Gman and asked him if it was possible to get my name reinstated I have not heard back as of yet but it is still early. I think they will need to re-covene the 5th congress and hold a vote on whether or not they would like to give it back to me... I even told Gman I am willing to kiss a little azz and I even threw in a So at this point it is just a wait and see what they decide on.
This is the first time I asked for the name back since I got back on the board as I am really in no place to demand so I am just trying to show my good intent and hope for the best..
    Time will tell..
    Enjoy your holiday this week....

As I noted in my response to you, Kentla, Timberwolf committed mod assisted suicide. You did everything you could to force us to ban you under the old handle. I don't think that it would be in the best interests of the forum to bring Timberwolf back due to the circumstances at the time of the departure.

I could'nt agree with you more.People tend to forget the true meaning of Christmas.I wonder who thought up santa claus. When I was a kid it was all about me.But I think as we get older we realize what Christmas is all about.

My wife and I both lost our parents. I think we miss them most during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Those two holidays were always a time for the family to gather. No matter what any of us were doing we always found a way to get together with the family during those times.

Kind of a Michelle Obama moment there but...

My parents and I are real close and they're up there in age so each day I charish them being alive and healthy. That's why this year,Thanksgiving and Christmas means so much to me.
My parents are both still alive... thank whatever. I guess we're as close as we've ever been. We may be about the same age, as I constantly worry about THEIR mortality.

But, if it's not too much of an intrusion. I can't help wondering why THIS year is the closest you've felt to them... and gives the holidays NEW meaning?

Estranged at one time? I know how THAT goes.

    Just curious. Don't get upset.
