Yesterday morning I hit a nice pothole in the road, which caused my drink to dump out right on top of my bluetooth earbud. Needless to say, it was trashed. So, I stopped at the Pilot in Grantsville, MD and bought a Celltronix wireless headset. I let the thing charge up and the first time I put it on my head, I knew it was garbage. Either my head is unusually tiny, or they just made it too "loose". Also, the earpiece isn't adjustable, so it wouldn't fit flat on my ear. Just turning my head (not fast) made it fall off.
So, this morning I stopped at the Wilco in Harrisburg, PA and bought a new earbud and was going to return the headset at the same Pilot. That's where the fun started.
I paid for the thing on my Discover card. I had the receipt and all packaging. The manager told me that they don't give refunds for electronic items but they would be happy to give me store credit. That went right through me. I told him I didn't want store credit, I want the money returned on my card. He pointed out on the receipt where it stated about the no return policy. I then basically yelled at him (in front of a store full of customers) that I wanted to know where in the UFP*&( this is posted in the store. He then, again, offered me store credit. I told him that I would be calling Discover over this (loudly and profanely).
He finally broke down and gave me my refund. He then said that I need to remember that in the future that they don't give refunds on electronics. I told him the only thing I'll EVER buy from a Pilot is an occasional cup of coffee and a sandwich. My company doesn't buy fuel from them, so that's not an issue.
What a way to end the week.
