Default I no longer hate driving through Illinois

I guess none of the pro drivers out on the Illinois interstates have realized that the speed limit is now 65 mph for trucks. I see everyone besides me still poking along at 55 mph and slamming on their brakes whenever law enforcement is spotted.

The new speed law went into effect January 1st, and the 55 mph truck speed limit signs have been taken down... at least on the interstates I've traveled on.

    Shhhhhhh... don't tell anyone.

Sounds good and Illinois seems to have grown back a pair.

Now if only the clowns running the prison state I'm in and the rest of the West Coast wised up, then we'd be in business.

sorry to tell ya but you may want to recheck the sped signs on I-80. yes the state raised the truck speed to 65 BUT alot of the counties STILL have it at 55.

alot of NEW signs on I-80 "TRUCK SPEED 55" with red flags on top.....! that was on 01/08/10

I haven't been up that way since the change, is the entire stretch of I-80 55? I know that back when they (Illinois) announced the change, they said that the Chicago area and a couple of other places would remain at 55.

I am not sure that local governments can control interstate speed limits. I know that there have been instances in other states where locals have been shut down by the state police when they tried to write tickets on interstates.

The Cook and the 5 Counties around there Like Will Dupage Lake Mc Henry and one other right around Chicago are still 55 MPH the rest of the State is 65 MPH. If the signs are down you can run 65 if not still 55. I know that on I-55 65 for trucks Begins at MM 233 Heading Southbound and Ends there going North. Give the IDIOTS in Chicago a few years seeing that the rest of the state has LOWER ACCIDENT rates and maybe they will join the 21st Century.

What's sad is that most of the company's still have their trucks turned back to 60-62 mph so it won't matter for them that most of Illinois is 65 now.
