Passing in 'No-Passing Zones' is what burns my saddle. I can't stand that. Is really worth not waiting?

I was like, "why was that distance sign in Metric?" in that picture.

Then the ".ca" addresses and the "Kelowna Vision Center" ad gave it away.

I've had 4-wheelers pass me with double lines, and I've had them pass me on the shoulder of the road too. They'll get away with it until they get caught in a situation they can't get out of.

Some years back, a guy in CO was passing everything in sight. If he couldn't pass on the left, he passed on the shoulder. Then, the tires caught loose gravel. He was westbound, but after it was all over, he was on the eastbound shoulder, up-side-down, and he was dead. He got caught.

All five of the issues they brought up happen all the time. And, if the driver of the 4-wheeler survives, they insist they did nothing wrong. I hear a lot of drivers on the CB talking about "STUPID 4-WHEELERS", but the truth is that they are "UNINFORMED" about the dangers. And, they are not informed because DOT either doesn't know or doesn't realize the danger. We've all got pretty much the same concerns. But, none of us have the ability to get the word across to the 4-wheelers in a manner that they will believe. And, for a number of them, it wouldn't matter anyhow, because things like that always happen to the other guy.

Huge +1 Windwalker. I could careless if they pass me illegally as long as they don't do it on the shoulder. I'd rather they use the pavement to do it, it's a wee bit safer than most shoulders. I wouldn't mind seeing all drivers go thru a course that explains the dangers of how they drive around trucks and then put them in a truck with a controlled environment and let the truckers do to them what they've done to truckers. Require them to go thru it every 5 years and have to pass a written test on it.

The only problem with that is that there are more car drivers that vote than there are truck drivers that vote. If your trying to get (re) elected, which group do you want to piss-off least?

I'm proud to say that I have been teaching my son to drive this past year. He turns 16 on the 13th of this month. I have made a point of teaching him all about driving around big trucks. With I75 running through our city I have had many opportunities to put him in real situations involving big trucks. I can only hope that those lesions stick. We even got in a little ice driving, which is hard to do around here in the south. K-Mart parking lot makes for a good training area/ skid pad.

You and I both know that a requirement like that would kill the auto industry. Very few would be able to maintain their driver's license.

About 45 years ago, WI DOT did a survey of drivers. No points on your license, and no marks against you if you did not pass. Drivers were flagged in off the street and given the same road test that was given to new drivers to go from a permit to a driver's license. They were astounded. Of those drivers that had had their license more than 5 years, 85% failed the road test. I'd be willing to bet that over the years, that percentage has gone up if anything. I seriously doubt it went down. But, that's what you're sharing the road with.

I could care less if the restroom is clean. I just want a place to park at the end of the day. I'll settle for a Port-a-John.

Such a simple request. I can't imagine women not taking you up on that one. Of course, since gender wasn't specified you could get flashed by non females.

    Ewww. Yucky.

I agree with most everyone. As much as I hate it when 4-wheelers passing me in No-Passing Zones, I'd rather them do that than pass me on the shoulder.
That is one of the scariest things. Mainly, because you don't expect to see anyone come around on your right side on a 2-lane.

I had a guy pass me on an exit ramp a few days ago. At least he was passing on the left side.
