Although, I have not heard directly, I seem to recall something to the effect that he should "RIP", it would suggest that he's a bit more retired than I am.

Yeah, Tony got tired of the political BSing and some of the hateful posts that were coming up a month of so ago. He removed himself as a moderator and left the board. He still lurks from time to time, but he's burnt out on moderating. Can't say I blame him...been there, done that, bought the t-shirt, and named a steak sandwich after it.

You know... I have not looked up any posts by you before the election, but I'd be willing to bet that if I did, I could find that you were supporting this new administration quite strongly. Some of us knew, 3 months after the inauguration, that it was not going to work well at all. Others of us knew even before the election that Obama was the wrong one. The problem was that it did not exactly make McCain the right one. Just another election when we tried to choose the lessor of the evils. And, unfortunately, your fearless leader isn't concerned about us. We simply do not make enough money to suit him.

So, now, take a look at the result of his hard work.

WASHINGTON - The number of buyers who agreed to purchase previously occupied homes fell sharply in November, a sign sales will fall this winter, undermining last summer's recovery.
and you can read all about it at Housing rebound totters as pending sales slide - Real estate- msnbc.com

    In the report,
Taken together, the reports show that, while housing remains vulnerable, makers of steel, computers and chemicals are mounting a surprisingly robust rebound.
, the fact that people are not buying the homes as expected indicates that they do not have the job security, or do not have the jobs period, to purchase a home. So, this part of the report is misleading. Until people have the confidence in their income and job security, the recovery is stagnant.

Another indicator that the recovery is not moving well, is:
WASHINGTON - We can't get no job satisfaction.Even Americans who are lucky enough to have work in this economy are becoming more unhappy with their jobs, according to a new survey that found only 45 percent of Americans are satisfied with their work.
Americans? job satisfaction falls to record low - Careers- msnbc.com
Until there is a marked improvement here, the homes are not going to do a lot of improving. And, the economy is not recovering.

So, while you were complaining about the conditions under Bush, where is all the change and improvement under Obama? Think about it. Everytime someone invents a new tax, they take that much more money out of the cash-flow of the economy. Look at the list of taxes we're already paying. The $254 billion that Bush gave back in rebates could have been tucked in and not hit us very hard. The $3.7 trillion is a bill that your kids and my grandkids will be paying many years to come. And, that takes that much more money out of the economy for them. Years ago, I was hearing that the reason we were not in as good a shape as we should be was because of the national debt. A decade ago, reducing that national debt was a campaign issue. Today, we have the largest national debt this country has ever had. And, it all happened in just the first months of this administration. You want to talk about a "pissing match" because of politics, just try to do well with this national debt.

Then, also take a look at the "mortgage bailouts". Did you know that the average cost of a mortgage bailout stands at $871,000? Just whose homes are getting these bennies? Certainly not the folks with homes listed at $100,000. Again, he's playing up to the folks with money. They could buy my home from petty cash and not even bat an eye. But, their homes are getting the mortgages bailed out. Where does that leave us? We can't even reach the hind teat.

And, if that's the thing you're complaining about, I voted against him, and I also gave you a chance to vote for someone other than any of the "popular candidates". What did you do about it?

One of the things we need very badly, in the very near future, is a restructuring of the taxes. Currently, if you earn less than $3000 a year, you do not have to pay any taxes. You don't even have to file taxes. That needs to be raised up to $30,000, and the cross-over point where you would pay the same taxes as today needs to be about $100,000 to $120,000. Those with higher incomes would be paying more tax. The vast majority of the population that does the most spending to keep the economy going is below $100,000 annual income. They are the ones that NEED to be able to spend money. Under this administration, they will not have it. But, they will get the bill for all the wealthy folks to get bailed out.

So, if you want to leave the board because of all of this, your choice. Stick your head in the sand. It will not stop what's coming up around the next corner, and it will hit you just as hard as the rest of us.

Can't take the flack, don't fly.
    Destroy the cities...
    and they will rebuild them.
    Destroy the farms...
and grass will grow in the streets of the cities.

Destroy the economy of the blue-collar worker...

Yeah, I know I went off topic, and I'm sorry about that. The thread was about Rev backing off from the board. And, if Timberwolf wants to leave the board, it's his choice. The politics isn't going to be affected one way or the other. And, if he does not like what's going on, he has 3 years to decide what he wants to do about it.

Politics aside, this is a CDL forum, and although I did stay away for a while, I'm back with a new frame of mind and trying to give good points on certain situations, and in my opinion Timberwolf seems like one of the more level headed, hard working individuals on this board, a guy who does what he has to do to get by in life. I recall he worked for CCC for a while, and while naysayers called him and others crazy for working for a company such as that, he stuck around until something better came up, something better in the form of Florida Rock, he's posted very informative subjects on here about how to get through the tough times, and has on numerous occasions answered my questions about Florida Rock or any other thing pertaining to fuel hauling. I guess what I'm trying to get at is it would be nice to have a board full of somewhat like minded individuals, although I know that will never happen. You have the OTR bashers, the local bashers, the non-driving, yet still feel it their duty to bash, bashers. I've adopted the frame of mind where I can in most instances see everyones point of view, and like I stated earlier this is a driver forum and it should stay that way. Hope I didn't go too far off topic here.........

Wow, thread got a little off track. I didn't intend for it to end up as a debate over politics or any other topic for that matter. Just wanted to know what happened to Rev since I had not seen any post from him lately.

    Millersod215,
I agree with you about TimberWolf, and wish he'd just take a break and step back from this for awhile.
All truck message boards discuss current events, and have light-hearted topics. That is primarily for the members who come here to offer help on a regular basis. It would be boring if all we had here was talk about tire tread depth. Some of us who have been here for years, have posted thousands of posts (many times repeting the same info) extending ourselves in help to everyone who comes here. I agree a message board should be diverse in both topics and members.
Trouble makers no matter who they are need to wise up, or be dealt with, and our mods don't buy into the deceptions, blame game, or guilt trips.

    Devildice,
On the topic of Rev, he belongs to quite a few truck message boards, and is currently a regular at TruckNet if you want to catch up with him.
People I think are trying to be respectful to Rev. If you just pull up his last posts, you will see the mindset inwhich he left CAD. Maybe he was "burned out" or maybe his real character surfaced.

Myself, when a topic either starts as politics or goes in that direction, I simply ignore the BS that everyone spouts about. Saves me having to buy more Excedrin.

It isn't uncommon for people to leave a board for awhile. Some come and go on a regular basis. It is sometimes good to take a break. Any time you have this many people you are bound to have a broad range of views and interests. We have over 17,000 members and many non members who just like to stop in and view the posts without joining. Some boards require people to register before they can read the posts. CAD has been open so that anyone who wishes can take a peak. Some may join later. Others may never join. With this many members there are bound to be differences of opinions every now and them. Some become more passionate than others.

Perhaps Rev will return at a later time.
