Default Numb, Sore, and Tingling spot upper back

    Hey,

I drive linehaul and used to use my left hand only, most of the time, to drive. 10 hours a day moving the left hand a few inches up, then a few inches down. ( yeah, a good spot for a joke here) Been doing this for 3 years. About 6 months ago, I noticed a spot in the the top left of my back, next to the spine, is now constantly numb, and tingling, and sore. Feels weird. I figure it is some form of irritation from the unrelenting use of those muscles and nerves. Carpal tunnel ??? Repetitive stress syndrome ?

Anyone else have this? Do anything to cure it? I'm using the right hand now, to drive, or both, to see if that cures it, but so far, it still feels numb and tingly.

I don't want to run off to the doc quite yet. Anyone else have this?

    Thanks,
    Zombie Woof

    I had this...sorta.
I switched over to my right hand for awhile.
Just make sure you practice with a hot dog first.

Carpal tunnel is in the wrist and hand.
It's hard to self-diagnose. You will need to see your regular Doctor, to get a referral to see an Orthopedic Specialist. Make sure he gives you the referral. Sometimes they will attempt to treat the symptoms themselves and waste your time.

Could be a herniated disc, or nothing serious. I've had bruised nerves before, which do make you worry about all kinds of things wrong, because they take a long time to heal. If it is something bad going on, sooner you get the right care for it, the better. Good luck ZW!

you need to see a doctor now, if it is the beginning of carpel tunnel, chances are they can treat it
if you wait,it may be too late, my mother and grandmother both had it and it aint pretty, my grandmothers fingers curled all the way back against her knuckles and wouldn't move

Thanks for the replies. I put a round plastic pill jar under it and rolled around on it to massage it yesterday. Feels much better. I was just rubbing it with my right hand, reaching back to it, before. A good excuse not to see the doctor! If it flares up again really badly, I might break down and see the doctor about it.
