Question What are your favorite restaurants?

What are your favorite restaurants with truck parking? Off highway or backroads, anything goes.

My fiance and I are going back OTR and I just can't stand the thought of fast food and hot dogs. (neither can my weight and cholesterol, I lost 25 pounds since we've been off the road) But hubby has diesel in his veins so off we go again! He could eat a double cheeseburger for breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday of his life. lol

I know there are some good ones out there and would like to mark them down in my streets and trips.

Thanks in advance.

I usually try to stay away from any of the fast food truck stops. I prefer the small, non-chain places. Their food is normally much better and much cheaper. My absolute favorite is a small, run-down diner with truck parking about 2 miles from our company terminal. The food is outstanding and very low priced. The waitress's are worth looking at, as well.

Guess I should've said that - lol

Mom's Place - Fairmont, WV, Exit 139 or Exit 137. Definitely not an easy place to find if you've never been in the area. Here are the GPS coordinates for it - any mapping program can find it: 39.504497,-80.125792. Gonna try something here - whether it comes out right or not, who knows. Link to directions to Mom's from I-79, exit 137: Directions

Others I frequent:
Jane Lew Truckstop - Jane Lew, WV - Exit 105. The restaurant is across the street from the truckstop. Great food, great prices, usually able to find a parking spot up until around 9-10pm
U-Save Travel Plaza - Mount Nebo, WV - Roughly around the 30-35 mile marker - US 19. HUGE parking area. The only time I've ever found the lot full is during snowstorms. Again, good food, great prices

I've eaten at Jane Lew. That restaurant across the street is one of the best near a truckstop I've run across. I pulled in due to a snowstorm and was glad that I did. Oddly enough the waitress asked if I was a trucker and when I did she led me to the back dining room that was filled with other truckers only. Lot's of entertaining stories floating around.

Lee- High in Lexington, VA

Jubitz (although been a couple of years since I was there)

If you stop at the T/A in Kenly, NC and have a bit of time walk the mile up to the previous SB exit and eat at the BBQ joint there. Some parking near the food lion on that exit so stop first and see.

Liberal, KS: Small T/S that serves a good breakfast and is just down the street from the cottage in the Wizard of Oz.

Dysarts: Bangor, ME

Little America: I80 exit 68 (I think) in Little America, WY.

Pilot: I95 Milford, CT No, not there but there are several resturants and a movie theater within walking distance. Be sure to pull in before 1800 or so during the week. Parking is tight.

Somebody might know the exit for sure on this one: Near Windsor, CT I91 there is a Greek Resturant with truck parking for 10 - 15 trucks and a Dunkin Donuts next door. Overnight for resturant customers only. I think it is I91 exit 45 go east on rte 140 maybe 1 mile.

P&H Truckstop: I91 exit 17 Wells River, VT More of a resturant than a truckstop but has showers, etc...

Try this site: Roadfood.com

You can find a place near where you are stopping and then see if you can find temporary parking in a mall or something. Has some truckstops also.

I haven't stopped at White's in some years, but I have a friend who stops regularly. He seems to like it. I prefer Lee Hi and usually stop if it is near meal time when I travel through the area.

Yeah I used to like it, but I got sick the last time I ate there. You never know, I may have just had the stomach bug. I have never stopped at Lee Hi. Will have to check that place out.

US 15 in Thurmont, MD get off on Rte 806 exit and park at the 7/11. Across the street is
Mountain Gate Restaurant. Get the buffet, it's mostly home cooked food.

I 40 in TX AMARILLO,exit 64 take a right continue to the first traffic light and take another right, continue less than 1/4 mile and take another right and find a parking spot on that street. From there you are at walking distance of 4-5 restaurant places, and a movie theater.

Lots and lots of options from there. My favorite in the chinese buffet and the logan steakhouse.

I do. When I was otr I ate out of a fridge but always had one hot meal a day at a sit down resturant just to get me out of the truck. I always tried to walk a mile or two to the resturant for exercise.

Example: If you park at the Flying J in Carneys Point, NJ you can walk out of the lot, go left and at the next lite go left and walk across I95 to the Applebee's there. About 2 miles either way and pretty safe.

I can not recommend the food at Whites. I never got sick there but it wasn't very good in my opinion.
