for a site like this it's no big deal, we just miss a few messages, but for an e-commerce site, imagine the possible sales lost. Of course a dns attack on some bigger sites like cnn and amazon would take more planning since they generally use round robin. Simply put, every time you view the page your on a new server, and they use 6 or more servers sincronized together. Of course this is expensive and most mom and pop operations can't afford it so they have a website on one server. even more, they probably have thier email and other tools on the same server. I've see them try a DDos atack on just about any part of the server from the website, ftp, ssh, email, the list goes on. I do not envy what the computer security ppl have to go through. been there, done that, lol.

Looks like we're still getting "denial-of-service" attacks. Been watching the online traffic today, and it's been over 300 to 400+ (guests) throughout the day!

Normally these attacks are cleared out in 15 mins. to an hour of tech time, though some can be harder to clear out. That's usually the end of it, especially on a site like this. My guess is this is something more personal.

Someone who has a grudge against this site has to be mounting these attacks, as they have been going on over 2 weeks now, and even though I see them cleared out by IB.

The technical people are working on it. I am sure they will get things back to normal shortly. So far things have been working pretty well this morning.

Ridge may be on to something. I never do clean my computer, and if your reading this post, your computer is probably being infected by me right NOW!

Maybe just a coincidence but I find I have less problems just after clearing my history.

It's been doing that for a long time, and it has occurred on different computers and with different kinds of connections, and this is the only site that does this. Thus, I'm thinking it must be the the server company they lease space from.

They are trying to fix it. We need to track what is going on and let them know such as what we are doing when the problems occur. According to IB it is happening to other sites as well. It is very aggravating.

    ha ha.
That's how it was when I tried to post this thread. It's a wonder I didn't post 10 threads of this.

Speaking of problems... One of our sales guys was telling me yesterday evening that their work email is down. They can't send, nor receive emails. He said the 'big wigs' are trying to fix it. So, it might not just be us suffering.

    ...................................
I considered Rev behind this as well, when this first began. It has the fingerprints, personality, and timing.
But the thing is, something like this requires an above average level of intelligence.
After all, he's done more to prove winning an agument on this board is like winning the special olympics--even if you win, you're still a short busser.
I'm thinking President Fred Sanford put the hit out on us.
Now that he has the Nation up on blocks, and has strip us of anything of value, he has nothing better to do.
Let him go bow to some foreign prique, preach "God Damn America", and go collect his POS Medal, while Al Gore's him in the back of de Plane.
Seriously, best thing I can say about this Looser President, is he was born out his mama's ass, because the front was too busy, and they really have no clue who his daddy was. You watch, his old lady gonna get so fat, he's gonna have to roll her off of him twice, by the time 2012 gets here.

These days all you have to do is send the White House an email alert, to silence and shut down, all who are not in the socialist lock step.
I wondered what they did with that Mao-lovin' stanky cretin, Anita Dunn.
My guess is they have that fish head eatting gargole in a shipping container on a barge, just offshore, running DOS attacks.

If any of you are still having board issues, you are not alone. I have been told that IB is working on it, but to this point, there has been no resolution.

Issues I have been having are usually that pages time out when I try to access a thread or post something. I find myself having to "X" out of a page and refresh many times simply to get one thread to show up. But I have also gotten the banned IP address error, too.

If you're still having errors, feel free to b!tch about it on this thread, if you can access it. If there are other problems that people are having, maybe IB will better be able to track just what the hell is going on.

I usually don't squack to the board about tech glitches that come up, but it's been brought to my attention that people are leaving and have no intention of coming back. So, if you're one of those people having issues, you're not alone. All I know at this point, though, is that IB is working on it.

This is what happens when people mess with things that ain't broke. It's kind of like the "change" we got when the current president took office.
