Hi I am new here. I am 25 years old and live in California. I'm jumping over from another trucking message board since it has gone downhill. I have driven for the last 5 years OTR well 4 OTR and 1 statewide on various equipment, Dryvan, Tanker, Flatbed, Dumps, Lowboy, etc. I have driven for small companies, medium sized companies, and mega carriers. I have found out medium sized carriers seem to work for me. I have driven basically every truck manufacturer other than a Mack. I have a clean DAC and MVR and I plan on going Owner/Op soon depends on how fuel goes and if my broker comes through on the rates he has promised me. I have been a trainer at several companies. I have done all the safety B.S. SMITH System, Simulator, Skid Pad, Haz-Mat, Situational Awareness Training, Bad Weather, Hills, blah, blah, blah, etc. I gained my license from a local PTDI certified school it was a 6 week course but that was over 5 years ago. My first trucking job I was given the keys to a rat trap and told to go haul a load of pipe 250 miles away without knowing a thing that was my first lesson and experience in the industry and I haven't looked back since let's just say it has been a learning experience. My last job was hauling chemicals in a tanker in the Western states. I am not getting very many loads due to the economy so I am looking for a new job soon. Other than that I hope to offer my help and expertise to new and experienced drivers, feel free to ask me anything and I will answer anything to the best of my ability. Thanks for reading and hope to talk to you all soon.

My road name is Marathon Man, I'm 44, and have been trucking since 1999. I used to own a landscaping business and got tired of people not paying me, so I went to school and started driving. The companies I drove for all had their faults but what company, or driver doesn't? I was with my first company almost 3 years before a mechanical fault on the truck caused some damage but they made me pay for it. The same thing happened to other drivers including my trainer and they overlooked it. I quit.

So, I went on a mission trip to Mexico to preach the Gospel for 2 weeks and when I came back, I went to a larger company that claims to be 100% debt free and they seemed heartless, so I quit them after 5 months and went to Mexico on a Missionary trip for a month.

I produced my first full length music CD for 2 months when I returned, then went to work with a great company that was very good to me for almost 5 years, then I got injured and found out what they really felt about me. They were more trying to dump me than help me, and I just washed my hands of them.

I just got back in June from a 6 month preaching missionary trip in Mexico, and I have a story to tell about the trucking industry and I will post it in another section. I don't know why, but it was one problem after another for me in the trucking industry, and now I'm out. I'm looking for another job driving, with a long hauler, preferably. I'll tell the story in the appropriate thread. thanks for welcoming me here.

Figured I'd throw myself into the frey. My name is Josh, I go by bulldog. 29 years old, been driving for 2 years now and lovin it. I've got a wife and 2 kids, so being on the road is actually a reprieve sometimes. a house full of women will drive you nuts. Anyway, thats about it, stumbled upon this site, and have found it interesting so far. Hoping to talk with all y'all soon enough.

    Default New to the forum

I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Coll. I am 40 years old female and I was born in North Africa but now I am in Houston Texas. I was at work last night and I was surfing the net and I came accross this truck driver forum and I read a lot of the postings and I found alot of them to be very interesting. I have been in a truck for about 15 years but in 2006 I took a break but not by choose, I was shipped over to Bagram, Afghanistian and I got back in 2007. Right now I am working local work and I hate it with a passion but I wanted to be close to my family.

Now, the reason I was surfing the net last night is because I was promoted to a position where when they hire a new driver I will be the one that gives them the road test, the only problem is that this company I am with has never given any driver a road test before they hired them. So, anyway, long story short I am trying to come up with a form (like a check list) for the road test but I have looked at so many web sites and I have not been able to find any. I am trying to find a form like the DMV has or something like it with like a point system. Can anyone point me in the right direction to try to find one. If I can find a rough draft of one I will put one together myself but I am not sure what all I should have on the form.

If anyone can help me with this I would very much appreciate it.

I hope that each and everyone of you and your families have a blessed Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year

    Thx Coll

I'd like to introduce myself, on the record I've been driving trucks since I was 18, off the record since I was able to reach the pedals(on back roads of course).

I'm not a long distance driver or anything, I'm actually a tree climber and drive trucks to get the light and heavy equipment to the job site and remove debris. Now I'm a licenced crane operator and use a 38 ton crane on a Sterling with a 350 hp CAT 8LL and tridem drive axles.

I have a little bit of tractor trailer experience, but most of the time I drive a single axle dumptruck with anything from a 12 ton equipment trailer to a 2.5 ton chipper hitched to it.

Thanks, growing up I always wanted to be a long distance driver, but having a family at a young age and a well established family business waiting for me, it just made more sense to be home almost every night.

I'll throw in a quick introduction. I'm 26, been driving the past 4 and a half years. Been working the job I've got now about a year and a half, and I'm liking it pretty good. I make it home every night and off on the weekends. I live in the Chattanooga, TN area. I like to fish and watch football. I've got a wife and 2 kids. Don't expect a ton of posts from me, usually I lurk around here surfing on my blackberry and it's a pain to actually post anything from it. But, if I can ever get to a computer, I'll try to make a little productive noise.

Welcome jkilgore. There are a few of us from your neck of the woods here. Gman is in Chattanooga, I'm in Dalton and Fredog lives over yonder ( east ) somewhere in the sticks.

As for as your lurking problem: The first step is admitting it. Congrats!! Your past the first step!

I can sympathize with you! Most of my posting is done from my Storm. Main reason I don't post like I did a few years ago.

    Welcome to CAD!

Maybe I should finally spring 4 a new laptop.

    Default cryin' for help

Hello all, just a quick introduction. Jaydubb is my husband (James) and that would be Mrs. Jaydubb (Jackie) and we've been doing this for 6 years now. Our Co. is Walter Ultimate Transport, Inc. Just happened to stumble onto this web site while looking for truckers' opinions on fuel cards. Com checks are killing us slowly. looking to get out from under that quickly. Seen a conversation last week about a Co. that has great potential to help. Cost: $250.00 for their membership. Have to call to join. Costly, but sounds like it's worth it. Need the name again. Can you help us out???
