Hi Ladies and Gents.
Im the new kid on da block. Not a driver anymore........havent driven in years...I gave it up for the kids/marriage etc thing
My entire family has driven since I was born.....LONG LONG LONG LONG time agoNow my fiance' is a driver and I take shotgun with him sometimes when my job permits. Ive lived and loved the lifestyle since I can remember.
I live in South Central Wisconsin......have 3 grown kids and 2 grandsons.....and a cat.....affectionately named "Killer".
Ive been "online" a whole lot more years than I care to divulgeand found my way here though how escapes me right now. As you can read from another post....I was in an accident last week.......involving a big truck
and that fact alone almost breaks my heart.
At least now when I say I feel like I got hit by a truck........NO one can doubt me.....I DO know what it feels like
Be safe out there people....
Hello all! My name is John and I've been in Telecommunicatiions for the past 33 years and I'm tired of it all, so I'm looking at driving a truck. I'm 58, lost my wife 12 years ago of breast cancer, haven't re-married, have two kids both grown and out of the house. Own my home in San Diego and been here for 38 years. Looking forward to starting this new adventure in my life, I think it's going to be GREAT!!!
Hi Folks,
My company is closing our office and I am out of work soon. I am in Tech Support for a technology mfg, and so far new job prospects are slim. I have 15 years in tech and also 15+ years in construction (Sheet metal/ac work) and unfortunately, in this currect economy, both are doing poorly. With all the ads I see, paid (sort of) training, and job placement opportunities in OTR, it looks like a reasonable option.
I am single w/ no kids .. just a dog (could be a problem) ... so the life would be more bearable for me than some other folks. I do love driving/road trip/etc and would rather drive than fly anyday .. dumb I know .. but how I feel.
My concern is the dog .. lab mix, 60 lbs ... and the need to take her with me. She loves to ride, all day even, as long as I get out and run around with her a few times. She just wants to be with me .. and sleep a lot.
I'm in the Atlanta area, looking at school options, like Drivers Solutions, to get me going. I'm cash poor so will need the 'paid training' option. Will have to board the dog I guess until I get 'on my own' ... that will get costly I'm afraid.
Appreciate any insight/thoughts! (PM)
Thanks,
Steve

Gun Control isn't about guns, It's about Control.
Well, considering the last post was 3 weeks ago, I can assume this thread doesn't get looked at alot, but oh well, I'm bored today.
I just left working on towboats due to my tearing my ACL and having a couple of knee surgeries. All better now, thanks, just didn't like the idea of walking on slick barge gunnels in ice and snow and rain with a gimp knee. The water tends to be cold in the winter.
Am a licensed auctioneer and certified Appraiser who is enrolled in Arkansas State University-Newport's CDL training course. See ya'll out there.
Just wanted to introduce myself to the group. My father drove for Little Audrey during the 1960's. Although, I never went into the trucking business, trucking has always held a big interest to me. Instead of long tired nights behind the wheel, I spend my nights doing CAD illustrations of vintage tractor-trailers.
Any old vintage tractor trailer pics, especially from Little Audrey's Transportation Co., would be appreciated. Be sure to check my photo album. I uploaded one of my earlier works.
Well lets see my name is Landon, and im returning to the truck driver community, after a 10 year break.Granted I hate driving, but it is in my blood, I have always been around big trucks, heavy equipment, ect. I have been a heavy equipment operator now for 5+ years, but them jobs are hard to find right now. I am a Operating Engineer, and am #1 on the list, just waiting for something good to pop up.

Hi All, I've been lurking here for a couple weeks and figured it was about time to introduce myself. Name's Bob, 56 years old in a couple weeks, married to my best friend and wife for 34 years; 5 kids, 11 grandkids, 1 great grandchild and 3 dogs. Live in Buckeye Lake, Ohio. Life is good.
Spent my first 20 years out of high school in the Army, retired from it in 1991. I'd always wanted to drive trucks as a kid growing up in the coal mining area of eastern Ohio. So, that's what I pursued when I left the Army.
Only planned on doing it a year...and now it's 17 years later, still enjoy it too. The first 7 years was running nationally, 1 year we locked up the house and the wife joined me (passenger) and we just took time off wherever we happened to be...had a great time.
For the last 9 plus years I've worked for a smaller outfit here in Ohio, mainly staying in the midwest with occasional trips to the southeast and east coast, home every weekend and usually one night throughout the week. Then we come to what brought me here, the company I'm with will be shutting down in the near future and been researching various companies.
Funny that this all came about...I'd just been talking to the wife a couple weeks prior to learning I'd soon be out a job, that I was thinking of getting on with an all 48 and Canada fleet for my last 3 years.
Anywho...down to 3 companies, been accepted by all, just need to make a decision by tuesday or wednesday latest so can be scheduled for monday, 9 Mar orientations they all have.
Be talking to y'all, thanks for the information posted up and hope to meet a few of ya. My handle is "Number 7" (the pack mule from the TV show "Grizzly Adams") couple good Army buddies started calling me that one day when I had an oversized rucksack.
Be safe, Have a Great Day and Better Tomorrow

Hello to everyone. Name's Marc. Stumbled across this site and message board while filling out an open app. for driving jobs. I currently work for a national LTL co. since August. Previously worked for A smaller LTL co. that ceased operations. Bad deal. The first excellent driving job I was able to land. The good ones never last. Currently on the flex board at my terminal working 20-30 hours a week. This economic slow-down is forcing some thoughts of hitting the road with a tanker co. Would be a big change from what my family and I are used to. More than willing to make the choice to keep the sheriff's lock off the door; so to speak. Here's to 0 points, no DUI's and plenty of respect for big trucks. My handle is "skidmark". Thanks to the moderator for this site. God bless.
Not really, the name is a motorcycle I used to have , I have a classic now. My name is Jeff, I enjoyed the short time I was on the road. I got out of the truck after 2 weeks out by myself.. I was given a nasty truck, and let it get to me. Looking back I should have just cleaned it a little at a time and kept on trucking. I am also looking for a driving occupation. I live in the Jackson Tennessee area. I am 51 years old, married, 32 years two grandkids boy 3 girl 8. CR England invited me to Gary Indiana retrain school and a job (so she said). I am not sure if they want me to drive for them or pay the 995 to retrain. I have already been trained for 4 weeks, driver trained for 4 weeks and also did the road by myself for two weeks, tow months ago. I feel that some or most companies might want me to be with a trainer for two weeks or so, but to retrain for seven days then go out with a trainer for 4 weeks again and another trainer for 3 months as a second seat @ .12 a mile don't really sound viable to me at that rate I probably won't go. With everything the way it is I don't see these schools turning out student drivers with no places to go.....is there anyone that has an answer or suggestion.......would help alot. e-mail me at fatboytenn@yahoo.com
Hello,
My name is Dan, I am new here to the industry and I dont drive a truck. I joined this because I thought some of the truckers out there could benefit from what I do.
I sell aftermarket OEM, Brand new truck exhaust pipes. I dont know if there are rules here about posting my website, but you could find me on ebay if you want to. I enjoy looking at all the trucks out there that dress up with Chrome pipes.
If you have a want or need that you cant find, please let me know and I will do my best to help you. Thanks for reading this.
Dan.

Name is Steve from Pearland Texas just southeast of Houston, starting school in Drumright Ok. and going to be driving for Conway Truckload out of Joplin Mo. married with a 12 year old son (my best buddy)planning on teaching him how to drive a BIG rig. Looking forward to driving all 48 and Canada. I worked in a chemical plant for 18 years (sick enough to throw up) so odd hours don't bother me. I decided to do this because I want to be alone and not hear a boss in my ear telling me how much money I am loosing by "not running max rates". Look for me out there soon.
Just curious, does anyone here ever do any "meet'n'greets"?
Why hello there,
My name is Derek, Im not a driver because, well its pretty hard to get a cdl at only 15, I am a future trucker, My current favorite truck (which changes every month or so) is the Peterbilt 386, Im just a kid who is bored alot with time to kill, who wants to learn more about the industry.
The name is Paul. I retired my insurance agency and bought a sailboat in '05, sailed Western Mexico, and then lost the boat in a storm they named Henriette in '07. With nothing to do I paid my own way through a CDL school and hit the road. Then I met a women.
She made me want to be home all the time so I got a job driving local LTL; a day-cab, single-screw pulling a 28' pup around making 15-20 deliveries a day. Life was good... until she left.
So I decided to hit the road again. By this time it was Feb '09 and nobody but Swift, Werner and Prime were hiring in the West. So I chose Swift. Now I'm on the road, back where I was before. Life is good... well, actually it's just ok... I'm still working on "good."

I invite everyone to join me at WarOnTruckers.com. This site is by truckers for the enlightenment of America. The American people are reading and they do care (at least some of them do). Let's end Trucker Abuse today, Tell the American people what is really going on out here.
The latest series (with the big help of OOIDA) about the "Fatigued Driver Checklist" was widely read and has yielded results. People made calls and wrote letters, Indiana has ceased their use of the "checklist" and we have Minnisota on the run.
Drivers, WarOnTruckers needs your input so the American Voters can help make things better for us. They cannot help if they do not know the problems.
If you think Americans don't care, it was the American People with their letter writing and phone calls to congress that stopped the Mexican Cross Border Trucking.
