After being bounced from one agency to another for the last seven days the CHP's CTIPS actually took a theft report. Only because i managed to get an agents cell number and when i called he recognized one of the names as a relative on a case he has been working on for the past three months. Part of the Glendale CA group that is involved in cargo theft and double brokering. The carriers insurance is putting up a fight as they are calling it employee theft which may not be covered. So friday i will have to pay-off the claim to keep the customer and hope the insurance pays later.
Kind of interesting that the FBI's cargo theft task force is only interested in theft's of over one million in value. It also took 40 minutes of the phone ringing before they answered. Nice to know the tax dollars are being used, maybe they could pay for voice mail at least.

I am sorry to hear that you may have to pay the cargo claim yourself, Chris. It is a shame that the FBI doesn't want to get involved unless the cargo has a value of $1 million. Due to it involving interstate commerce it should automatically fall under the jurisdiction of the FBI.

There is no glory in solving a "minor" crime. They also have the least sense of humor of all enforcement. Now if it was a load of chemicals then they would also be interested.
If the insurance pays it will be months down the road.
