As I sit looking all around,
Confusion and uncertainty is all I found.
The answers are there,
But I do not know where.
Optimistic and hopeful dreams,
Are all I have so it seems.
The future I do not know,
So all I can do is take it slow.
But I do know it will work out,
So I wait and watch without a doubt.
What the hell happened to the solar powered and bio fuel generators that are supposed to be providing supplemental power to heat and cool rigs ??
Damn, this industry is decades behind the times, even RV's have better systems than truckers, that or the industry really does not want to invest the cash in technology, but would rather have drivers suffer.
Hell they could place solar panels on the top of every trailer and power NYC and LA right now !!!
It is high time for a truckers national strike, END OF STORY, the industry is ass backward to say the least !!!!!![]()

When I started driving a truck we didn't have air conditioning in our trucks. We rested any way we could. Some would sleep on or under their trailers or roll the windows down and sleep in the tractor. Now, I am as spoiled as everyone else. It is difficult to sleep when you are too hot. I do think that there should be more that we could use to avoid idling, save fuel and still be comfortable whether it is cold or hot.
Why should drivers get the short end of the stick ??
Truck drivers need to form a NATIONAL UNION to deal with these morons in government and the trucking companies.

Trailers need to be light weight to allow more freight. Solar panels aren't light.
Trailers need to be low cost to allow a better profit margin. Solar panels aren't cheap.
Maybe for a solo operation where you're hauling light-weight freight all the time, sure, that'd be a great idea. But when it comes to the trucking industry in general, solar panels covering the trailer roof just isn't going to happen.
Wanna play a couple online games that are absolutely free? These are the games I play on a very regular basis:
Battle of the West & Mobs Law
Not true at all.
Have you held a calculator ??
They have very lightweight solar or light capturing panels that power them.
The entire issue will be solved by advanced technology soon, just wait and see.
The industry just does not want to invest the money in systems at this point, but the law will force them to do so.
Truckers should strike against inhumane conditions if the industry does not move quickly.
The kind of solar panels you are thinking of for a roof are made of glass, silicon, and steel, they are quite heavy. To cover a trailer would require probably about 5000 lbs easy. Not to mention they are very very expensive. Now you need to add in a power regulator and batteries, we are getting even heavyer. But I am curious as to WHAT you need the power for anyway, as an alternative to an APU?
