I was 23 when i bought my harley. I dont think its an oldmans bike. Alot of my friends 21-27 ride harleys. More of them ride harleys then them JAP junk bikes.

Sync...That is downright un-American...nothing makes a woman purr like a HD...I don't care how old you are....

Harley Davidsons = Twice the price, half as nice.

I admire the Harley Davidson motor company, not for their motorcycles but for their marketing and branding. I could only dream of brain washing so many individuals into believing that anything you purchase with my company logo will spontaneously make you infinitety cooler and become one b@d@ss MoFo.

Arguing on the C.B. is kinda like running in the Special Olympics, 'cause even if you win your still retarted.

You take a Harley road king and try to compare it to a JAP bike of the same thing. The Harley is diff. Better built. I do agree they are a little over priced but you get what you pay for. To me Harley is a name well worth paying for. PUT YOUR AZZ ON SOME CLASS

I have done your comparision. The so called "Jap. Crap" runs smoother, accelerates far better, have way better lean angles and ground clearance, costs less, are not air-cooled-huge plus, won't cook your legs while riding, and offer much more modern technologies.
But end the end who really cares, it's your money ride whatever pleases you.

biscuit, i dunno about you but i'm waiting for some kind of question about whether or not i love the country in which i live in. it usually happens since i mostly buy japanese automobiles and products. most of the stuff america assembles is manufactured south of the border, and that includes harley-davidson. nothing really american about their bikes, except for the name.

So i guess the harley plant in York PA 45min up the road from me is not American.

1- When i got my Harley brand new it ran smooth for me. It didn't start idling ruff until after i put the Pipes and intake etc. on it. Like the other 98% of Harley's.

2- Yes the Jap bike will accelerate alot faster then a Harley. But then again Harley's are not made for that. (expect the V-rod) It is a cruising bike.

3- Lean angles i don't care about i don't go around like speed racer and take turns at 100MPH. And ground clearance i could careless about cuz I'm not offroading in it.

4- You are right they cost way less.

5- Harley's are air cooled but i never had a problem in 2.5 years of my bike overheating at all.

6- modern technologies are not always a good thing. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Look at truck motors a 3406 Cat will have alot less problems then the newer C-15 Cats.

I will end by saying you are right. If you like JAP bikes more power too you. It is your money spend it as you please. But no matter what, you know a straight piped Harley sounds sweet.

Look at this video this is way people buy harleys. Maybe i just bought into the name. But you know what i love every min. of it.
YouTube - Harley-Davidson: Live by it.

Here are some pics of my bike 06 Street Bob. It looks alot better with the solo seat on it but when my GF rides with me she likes the sissy bar. Also what type of bike you got??? Post some pics of it.

When i just got back from the dealer with it.

    How it is NOW

I'm not sure if Harley's are made across the border, but I was inside the HD plant in Milwaukee picking up a load of prototype '09 and '10 Harleys back in '08. Plus, they do have their own fleet.

My Yamaha Banshee, 89 Honda Pilot are great off road machines. harley should make some!

Goldwings are made in Ohio, but some would argue Ohio is not part of the USA.

Maybe sales are off due to the economy, kide of like the big 3.

I was going to buy a new Harley but decided I couln't afford all the clothes to go with it.

Yea Harley clothes is the biggest ripoff. Harley T-shirt 20-30bucks. Harley hat 25-30. Don't even talk about there jackets 450+. I think they make more money selling clothes then selling bikes
