The problem with that is that they closed 30 also.

Sucks to be in NORTH DAKOTA right now, the roads are open but the static temp without figuring the wind chill is -29. And let me say that my new super dooper state of the art Frightbox with the Detroit is not likeing this at all. I'm on my 3rd re-gen for the night which means every two hours I have to get up and babysit it for 45 minutes while it screams away at 1,600 rpm.

At least you are able to re-gen. 8 new trucks since july averaged about 7000 miles before re-gen problems. As of yesterday the 09's 2 trucks here(drivers off) 4 trucks in various shops with rentals(at least they are paying for it)1 called at 0100 with lites flashing and 1 still running.(50 degrees there)
Got to love the EPA,they are here to help us.

Chris - what I have found that works on this one is to shut it off, re-start, release the brakes, re-set the brakes, pump the clutch one time then initiate the re-gen. Usually the first re-gen results in the DPF light going from steady to flashing then I re-run the entire process and the second time around it smokes like a Las Vegas ***** but after about 10minutes it coughs a lung and takes another 10 to 20 minutes then returns to an idle.

If I try and initiate one from an idle when the light comes on it will not go into re-gen and the one time that it did it plugged the DPF and I got a shutdown about 1 hour into it. That was at 2:00am so after playing with it for the next 4 hours I finally got it to cough a lung and everything was fine.

Our shop has been telling us to idle them at 1100 but when I run it up that high it won't go 2 hours without a flashing DPF. If I just hit the Resume and let it settle in at about 900 it will run all night (with the exception of last night, it was -30 to -35 and nothing was helping). The new Mack parked right next to me has been re-gening every hour all night and I only had to do 3 and he's on his 8th. The worst part, my Espar gelled at 1:30 this morning so now I have a very cold floor.

I'm not sure how all this great technology is supposed to help with these friggen engines setting here screaming awaytrying to blow the crap out of the filter. Sooner or later someone is going to discover that the crap we are blowing out in the middle of the night is causing some sort of exotic brain cancer in a spotted owl in Equador and we will have to take all this stuff off.

On another note, Miss Jenny is throwing in the towel with the school system at the end of this semester and she's considering moving up here to Fargo and running a pilot car.

In the cold the air tubes to the sensors get condensation in them and gives a false reading to the sensor. Re-gen won't solve it as the pressure difference doesn't change. Last nite they removed 1/2 gallon of water from the condensation in one of the trucks. Just don't know how to fix it yet. One solution is to go back to a winter front but if the temp goes up then you have a new false reading.

Maybe that's why we're not having as many issues, we're running winter fronts on all the Fargo based trucks.

This is ALL smoke and mirrors. I had frequent regen indicators until around 4000 miles and did whatever the manual said to do. All of a sudden, the indicators would fade in and out of "STOP ENGINE" after I had already done a forced regen. Eventually, the engine stopped. I took it to the F/L shop in Nampa, ID, where they replaced an EGR valve. Since then (now 50k), I rarely get the high heat warning and have not since seen the regen warning. I'm guessing Swift said "we're tired of that crap, make it go away" and F/L made it go away.
