Default $50,000,000.00 payday for Jerry Moyes . .

. . sharing it with the drivers, I suspect.

"Parish, through connections dating to a cigarette-manufacturing business started by the Squaxin Tribe near Shelton, Mason County, hooked the tribe up with Jerry Moyes, owner of Arizona-based Swift Transportation, one of the largest trucking companies in the country. Moyes had no casino experience.

    But Moyes had money."

I've driven the entire stretch of I-5 from LA-Canadian border as a Werner rookie in the winter nothing much to chat about...The recently deceased Swift driver did something careless to wreck ,and he had a valid class A license issued from his home state saying qualified to operate that vehicle safely along with 3+ weeks of additional OTR trainng ...I fail to see where Swift owes the deceased a dime ...And if he was tired or whatever he needed to say so before driving...That's how personal accountability works.

Well..since he had a valid license...why did he need a trainer with him at all?

And before you get to deep...I have driven the entire stretch of I-5, from Canada to Mexico (as BD has done as well I am certain). I have driven that particular stretch of I-5 (through Olympia) more than you...OR BD.

It is obvious you are not to familiar with Washington State. Yeah...Swift is going to get hammered hard when that driver's widow sues...and you can bet she will sue. That is her right...and how corporations are held accountable.

As for Moyes and his actions with the Indian Casino....It shows the type of character the man has. Luckily I don't frequent casinos...and I no longer live in Washington State...so I am not affected.

I-5 in Washington is nothing special I did it as a rookie in snow I just drive alert and use common sense , And I have seen plenty of wrecked semi driven by "veteran" drivers who ran certain areas many times more than I during te same road conditions ...Huh I guess having 30yrs exp does'nt give you ability if you don't have it .

Swift does not have trainers they have mentors ,and at some point in time the training wheels need to come off and the student need to do it on his own...my training was only 4.5 actual weeks behind the wheel I-5 not an issue... top heavy loads like 46k lbs of hay in a dry van not an issue...I think the big problem is the trade flooded with ...putting it nicely...people lacking basic common sense ...many of which seem to be comming fom welfare to work type programs...
