Ok - we all know how much we all like to tell stories about things that have happened to you, whether it involves a truck or not. So, let's hear some.

This is one of my favorites (because it didn't happen to me):

I grew up in a small town in West Virginia. Next door to my house is a pretty big hill that me and my friends would mess around in. You know the stuff - building forts, swinging on vines, etc. Anyway, there were four of us swinging on some vines one day (we were all in the 15-16 age group). There's nothing like taking a running start and hanging 50-60 feet off the ground on one of those things. One of my friends, Dave, took his turn and it didn't turn out well for him.

He took the normal running start. When he reached the apex of the swing (when you start to come back), the vine ripped free of the tree. He just happened to be swinging with his legs wide open (for some reason). When the vine broke, he continues his spread-eagle flight - right up until he met up with a tree. He literally straddled the tree at least 30 feet in the air, then slid all the way to the bottom. Of course, we all ran to him and we knew he was in agony (what guy wouldn't be?).

My friends and I carried him to my house and we called his parents, who took him to the hospital, where he stayed for a couple of days. He got lucky and didn't permanently damage anything but he couldn't walk non-bow legged for a month or so. When my friends and I went to visit him in the hospital he said the only thing that really hurt was when he hit the knot sticking out of the tree part-way down.

Needless to say, none of us has touched a vine in the woods again.

Oh, they definitely did. When we were visiting him, he was sitting on the bed in his gown. He had his knees up and spread. The nurse walks in, lifts the blanket/gown and said "How they doing today?" Remember, his four friends the same age were sitting there.

    It was hilarious.
