    Default My not-so-bright idea...

....or, "what truckers wives do when home alone" LOL

All summer I have been trying to catch a Garter snake from around the farm- dunno why, just wanted to see if I could lol. I hate bugs and spiders- very afraid of spiders- but I like snakes. Anyway.... so today I see one of the barn kitties gnawing on a little snake...it wasnt quite dead yet so I rescued him- then thought "Oh! I'll keep in in a box in the house until I get an aquarium" (or whatever those reptile cages are called) I checked on him every now and then, he was still alive, and starting to perk up (cold/wet outside, warm/dry in the house). I had to leave for an hour or two, on my way home I decided, I'd let him go- after someone told me how germy they can be lol. So I got home, took the box outside, opened it, and he was GONE! Yikes- now I have a snake loose in the house someplace, and even though I'm not afraid of them really, its starting to creep me out! So, I want to know, how do you call a snake? "Here kitty kitty" doesnt work Oh yeah, called hubby and told him, he's not too thrilled about it either lol. I'm allergic to the cats, but I think one will be inside with me tonight

OMG I found him!!! Now I can sleep tonight LOL. I got up to let the dogs out (they live on front porch) and "Fluffy" () was sitting by the door- like he wanted to go out too; I picked him up, and he crapped all over my hands- GROSS:eek: Needless to say, he's out in the woods someplace now, and hopefully wont want to come back inside

I guarantee the snake will never set foot near your house again (get it...foot)

This story reminds me of something that happened to my wife a few years back.

Her son had the brilliant idea of buying a baby alligator. Well, he had to go away for 5-10 years, so we got the opportunity to adopt this modern-day dinosaur. At the time, the gator was about 2 feet long total, and almost impossible to hold from it's strength.

We had a large aquarium setup for it, but I guess the lid wasn't good enough.

Anyway, she calls me at work one day and said that when she got up, the aquarium was empty. I told her to just watch where she walked and I'd be home in a few hours. I got home and she was on the couch and said she'd been there since she got off the phone with me about 3 hours before. Luckily, it was the middle of the winter and the house was a nice cold, drafty place. The gator was underneath a chair in an almost comatose state.

Needless to say, we gave the gator away the next day.

OH NO! I would have hurt myself! I don't like snakes or spiders. I have been bitten twice by spiders, one was a Brown Recluse. I can't even imagine a snake or an alligator in my house! They can jsut stay outside!! I used to think spiders were ok...because I hated flies and other little buggies that spiders eat...but not anymore! My kids are starting to ask for things like hamsters and lizards...not just no...but HELL NO!!! No more little critters, not even a "foot" dog (which is anything under 50 lbs). Cats are particularly welcome, though...but everyone is allergic to them...

Ok. I have to ask. What did this genius do that he had to "GO AWAY" for 5-10?

Before my daughter and son-in-law built their house out in the country, they rented a house in town. The next door neighbors were moving out and the guy (she says he was a "DITTZ") was talking about a snake they lost somewhere in the house. About 6 weeks after a new family moved in, about 7:30 in the morning, she heard breaking glass. From the kitchen, she looked into the living room... The kids were fine. No broken glass. Then she looked out the window. The new kid on the block, about 17, was standing outside the house poking a broom handle through the broken window.

She went out to see what was going on and a squad car pulled up as she got to the kid. He asked her if she wanted to see a REALLY BIG SNAKE. When she looked inside, it was about nine feet of albino boa.

Would you believe... The cops in Wausau, WI have nothing with which to handle a snake? They had no idea what to do about it. She called a local pet store that she knew a couple of the employees had snakes and one of them left work to get it. He was grinning from ear to ear when he left with it. It seems the snake ate all the mice it could find under the house and in the heating ducts and when it got hungry again, it came out.

When her husband got home, he jumped on her case. "You've handled snakes before. Why didn't you grab it and take it? Albinos are worth money."

She showed him the $100 bill the guy gave her to thank her for calling him.

By the way, the guy that came and got it also has an 18' anaconda in his basement (that is, as of about 5 years ago). NO ONE wants to break into his house.

I don't know of any police who are equipped to handle a snake or gator. They all call animal control to come get it while they set a perimeter to keep people away.

He was driving a barely-drivable pos car, he was about to get evicted from the house to was renting for $300/month, he was always bumming money from me and the wife for money to buy food, etc. He had a total of $2 to his name at the time of the arrest. At the same time, though, he'd go out to a strip club and blow over a grand in one evening.

    Ya - reallllll genius.

Well, he has some sort of genius in him, he's got free room and board now instead of having to bum money for food.

Snakes are an abomination......gawd I hate them. We had a place in St Louis back in the earl 70's and gartersnakes wold crawl into the dryer by the exhaust vent. I was like 5 or so and mom sent me to the basement to get the clothes out of the dryer. Felt them moving against me and I threw the laundry and ran.

That would suggest you do not want any part of Florida. They have a population of rather large ones now. Starting with Boa Constrictors, and going all the way up to 30 foot Burmese Pythons, and they are a "breeding population". Places like Coral Gables have someone in Animal Control that "extracts" snakes from people's back yards. Ball Pythons, Rock Pythons, and Burmese, though I have not heard that they've tangled with a 30 foot one like they found in the Everglades, after it ate an alligator. And, I think one of the women fishing off the pier on the Anclote River must have messed herself when she pulled in a sea snake. Far more poisonous than any land snake.

Florida has the snakes, Georgia has the 1000 pound wild boars, and northern California and Oregon have BIGFOOT. Need to get the other two down to FL to get rid of the snakes.
