Default Why aren't these people locked up?

5 time DUI offender kills a motorcyclist. This guy has a history of alcohol related crimes. He was actually running from a police check point when he hit them. Shouldnt three times be enough to lock them up for a long time?

"REPEAT OFFENDER" is not applied across the board. This guy will be put away this time, but he'll be out in 5 to 10, and he'll do it again. Lady construction worker in IL was hit and killed a couple of years ago, and the guy that did it, didn't have a driver's license since '87 because of a DUI. For that matter, the woman that started MADD now has a DUI.

I don't think they need to come down on a first time offender as hard as they do, but the second time, they should know better. The third time, "REPEAT OFFENDER" needs to be applied.

However, when they get out of prison, license or not, they will be driving again.

Every one of my kids went through a "phase" of drinking. And, at times, they also drove after a few. But, today, not one of them will drink and drive, and two of them don't even drink at all anymore.

So, why isn't the guy in prison? He may have been. But he's out and doing it again. By the time they get into their 40s, it's not a phase anymore.
    Destroy the cities...
    and they will rebuild them.
    Destroy the farms...
and grass will grow in the streets of the cities.

Destroy the economy of the blue-collar worker...
and grass will grow in the executive offices.

    The bill has come due.
    ( R E T I R E D , and glad of it)

Our justice system is seriously flawed and has been for sometime. Look at the DC Sniper deal, both of them did it but their lawyers have appeals tied up in the courts and it will be that way for many years. Muhammad will probably die an old man in jail instead of actually being put to death due to all the appeals his lawyers are doing. A drunk repeat offender can go out and plow into a family, kill'em all and walk away with maybe serving a whole year in jail. If you or I were to do something much less serious, possibly by complete accident, we will see a much worse sentence. It's like the system rewards repeat offenders.
