If I was gonna be down this way on tuesday, from up there where you are...I would eat the miles and stay on I-30 to Dallas. Talk with your dispatch..they may pay you to skirt around the storm path if you need to.

I "should" be ok from the looks of it. I plan on being in Laredo before 5pm eastern on Tuesday. Looks like I might fight it coming back north/east though.

Latest report is this hurricane is just short of a category 5, so DON"T MESS AROUND if you are in the area it will hit. Get out, Get out!!

The towers may be in emergency use only...or everyone else in the country is trying to call out.... Hopefully your family is already on the move headed north out of there... Best of luck to you!! and your family!!!

I live in SW FL...right where Charley came ashore....been through a few of them...not fun.

my only weakness is a hot brunette with green or blue eyes. ladies with jet black hair seem to have the same effect on me, too. then there are the red-heads. the ones with green eyes really get me going. going so much that i cannot think straight!

Nope, not any more. Only do the local stuff now. Besides, I just had double hernia repair so somebody would have to come get me right now.

I hope you didn't think I was refering to you sticking it out there. I was only refering to the folke that REALLY want to temp fate.

I was there for both Katrina and Rita. Two totally different mind-sets. One was just sitting around waiting for someone to do something while the other ( Texas ) was out there making things happen. If I ever leave Ga. my next stop will be Tx. I like the way you ( the state ) thinks.

LOL...I'm sorta disgusted with the whole deal right now.....they shifted into panic mode this morning..and nobody knows yet where it's landing..though Port of Fourchon looks real good.

If you was down here for Rita...then a belated THANKS Dude!

LOL.....I worked my butt off after Rita...hot miserable work and mosquitoes! We hauled over 800 loads of debris out of 2 plants here, plus continued hauling debris out of the company plants in the NOLA area and in Pascagoula that Katrina damaged...the control room at Pascagoula was rebuilt after Camellia they told me. It was built 24 feet above ground to place it 4 feet hire than the surge from Camellia...the surge from Katrina was 8 feet above the roof of the Control room.

I'm going to stay right here at the house until tomorrow afternoon. Yeah..I'll get ready for the bad..but continue hoping for the good....which means NOLA gets hammered!

Well, time for me to go have my fun I guess. Never thought I'd be trying to outrun an oncoming hurricane. I'll run west on I-40, I-30 into Dallas, then head due south. It looks like I'll probably be fighting a good bit of the outer bands, but shouldn't get the worst of it.

    Time will tell.

I'll post updates when I can.

Safe trip Dude. US59 is the shortest road from Texarkana to laredo....but US59 is going to be hammered the next 2 days with "Panickers" ....so your best to stay north and west. Take I-35 south out of Dallas to San Antonio and Laredo.
