I am from the small town of Laona.
    You got that right!! :P

I took a google satelite look at your fair town....reason you keep the engine running when you're in the store is cause your engine hasn't warmed up yet from driving...all the way...from one side of town to the other .
Unless it' winter of course and then it's idling for survival reasons

Looks like a nice place to live!!

You`re in the desert and starving to death; a passing arab offers you a choice of two local delicacies, monkey cum or leopard droppings?
    Which would you opt for?

The significance is partly humor. If you wake up next to an ugly girl who do you have to blame for it? That guy in the mirror. Walt Kelly said "I have seen the enemy and he is us". I believe we are our own worst enemy. People do stupid stuff everyday then wonder afterwards "Why did I do that?" Because they trusted the guy in the mirror.
Don't trust anybody. Especially that guy in the mirror.

    1. My father

    2. Most of my life my father was a functioning alcoholic. Worked his ass off during the day but sat in the bars most evenings. Drank, ate like **** and wasn't home for the things important like extraciricular activities we participated in while in high school. Until both of his brothers passed away. Then he got his wake up call. Either start taking care of yourself or you will die also. He quit drinking altogether, went on a diet and lost over 100 pounds. His late life quest for redemption has been hasn't been easy but at least he will be around to see his grandkids do the things he didn't see us do. I resented the man he was when I was younger, But that hatchet was buried long ago and I am proud to say that I do love my father (While I wipe tears away while writing this). That was an excellent question.

Do you get more traits (not so much physical but...things like sense of humor, character, inner strength) from your mother? or your father?
"Life is made up, not of great sacrifices or duties, but of little things, in which smiles and kindness, and small obligations given habitually, are what preserve the heart and secure comfort."

These I do get from my dad.

We do have the same sense of humor.
Problem solving skills when it comes to mechanical things.
    Work ethic.

These I get from my mom

    Inner strength
The ability to drag information out of people after they say "I don't want to talk about it".
    The ability to "read" people
Desire for information. I am always reading something just like she does.
