    Default Tanker questions

My boss called today and asked me if I had a tanker endorsement (which I do). When I asked him why, he said they were trying to pick up a dedicated account. Right now, we haul only dry-van, non hazmat (tanker loads will be non hazmat liquid).

So, when I came in, I tried to get some pay details out of him. They're going for $1.75/mile for all miles. The driver will make our standard 24.5% + 1% monthly safety bonus.

Now, what "extra" pay should there be for a tanker job? I've never done them, and neither has anyone in our office. Just wondering what the "normal" is for accessory pay for non hazmat liquid tanker.

i'll venture a guess there should be some detention time to unload? even though it's liquid doesn't mean it'll come off fast.

oh who am i trying to BS, i have no idea. hopefully one of the expert tanker yankers will come in and rescue my sorry excuse for a butt real soon. :P

Well Mal, Im no expert but know that they pay for drop and hooks at the tank cleaning yard, detention if you wait to get washed, on and off loading etc, and break down. Some companies even off load for you depending on their policy. The pay with percentage is usually within a pre-determined radius of the terminal and if you exceed the miles, then it goes up to something like .40 cpm loaded and .30 cpm coming back empty. Where is Cyanide and Skywalker? :?:

we average 3 bucks a loaded.. mile, you should get paid for pumping to load or unload and detention time for tank washes. also most customers pay for detention after 2 hours.
