Link didnt work...just went to a blank page.
Wow, after this guy gets done payin his debt, Pennsylvania will probably have enough money to get rid of all their freakin tolls......hah ya right!!
I'll gladly pay u tuesday for a hamburger today.
He can KISS his CDL bye with that one. I would love to be a personal manager for any company when he applies there. Any tickets in the last 3 years just one in PA for 1.24 million I would be trying NOT to laugh on that one.
The orignal Ironeagle2006 Yes I am BACK.
I'm confused, are PA Tolls processed by axle weight? One would think that if that be the case, raising an axle would cause another to be way overweight and thus the system would be useless anyways. If they do it by the number of axles like the states I have driven thru do it, unless the axles completely rolled up out of view, what good does that do to just raise it up, or do they collect by the axle if the axle is touching the ground? In other words, if the axle is not down, they don't count that one? :?Wambold's tractor-trailer has a split-axle trailer with a modified air system that can lift the axles over toll indicators, with mufflers that can prevent toll collectors from hearing the axles being raised.
the sysem counts the axles ON the ground as you go thru the toll both by having 1 axle OFF the ground it would count a 5 axle truck & trailer as a 4 axle unit. like a dump truck that has 2 air axles the system only counts the 3 that are on the ground, if the air axles are down the same truck pays for 5 axlesOriginally Posted by Mr. Ford95
This guys his so hosed he doesn't even know it yet.
PA turnpike charges by weight class, not axle. When you roll over the plates, the system weighs each axel and adds them together.Originally Posted by flood

Notice that it gives the classes by weight, not axle.
PA/NJ bridge crossings charge by axle.
Are you really as dumb as you attempt to portray yourself to be?Originally Posted by ironeagle_2006
Double R, with that being the case on the PA Turnpike, then lifting the axles would do nothing for him. It would just add more weight to the other axles on the ground so overall he would still be paying for the same amount of weight, just on less axles, right?
he has a point there, if anything he'd flag himself for overaxle tickets.
If he had a spread axle, and the ability to lift one axle, it has nothing to do with tolls and weights. It has everything to do with the ability to turn a corner or back into a space. Without it, the trailer will pivot on which ever axle is on higher ground. But, dump the air on the rear axle, and the trailer pivots on the front axle, allowing you to turn shorter corners. There are some trailers that can dump the front axle so that you can eliminate the "tail-swing" and avoid hitting a parked car that you have to get close to for your turn.
But, I understand that DOT has said that it is illegal to have control of that from inside the cab. You can still have it, but you must get out of the truck to activate it.
It does absolutely NOTHING for tolls, and if you try to use it at a state scale, you may find yourself getting a ticket that you would not have gotten otherwise.
Instead of stealing a toll pass, you're far better off just avoiding the tolls.

I agree with Windy. The only thing I don't understand...Why didn't the trucking company that "owned" the EZPass transponder, report it missing and get it disabled?Originally Posted by Windwalker

look at it this way big company 1000 + trucks, one thuck sitting in the yard (unseated) someone takes the EZpass, PREpass, PIKEpass, SUNpass out of the truck. when a new driver gets the truck he tell the shop he needs one so they give him one and off he goes.
the shop SHOULD check but wouldn't check to see if it should have one i always take the PREpass and EZpass from our old truck to your new truck. i don't like the new ones (EZpass & PREpass all in one)
i know a driver that has a PREpass from swift, star, and western all in his truck (and yes i told him someday it will come back and bite him in the *****) some are 4 years old and all still work.
most of the big companies are just to dumb to check them, they just pay the bill when they get it. they don't check to see if the truck it should be in was on that road at the time. IMHO it's just stuped to not check
Understand that completely Wind, just seemed as though the article was a bit ignorant in the fact that they claimed it was for helping him avoid higher toll fee's. They(the police) seemed to have no idea what they were saying and in the end look like fools by that claim.
Problem is: To US they look like fools, but to the general public, they have "PUBLIC ENEMY No 1". There should be a way to give the public the truth about things like that. This way, they (the public) don't know the difference.Originally Posted by Mr. Ford95
