Hmmm that's a good question. He was a friend on MySpace but it looks like he deleted his profile recently. I wish they would show who it was that deleted their profile. It just shows up deleted and sometimes it's hard to figure out who it was if you don't remember everyone on your friends list. Guess he's AWAL then. 8) 8)

Maybe he got smart and actually decided to be a 17 y/o kid for the summer rather than a know-it-all wannabe BBR on the WWW.

I'm here and yup I turn 18 on Monday and as far as the CDL is concerned I'm gonna get the permit hopefully Tuesday. I talked to Mid-West and I got an application and they told me that co-op maybe a possibility and that I got to get the acutal CDL cause they won't accept the permit and they won't provide a truck for the road test, insurance reasons more than likely. So now I got to find a truck and get the CDL before they stop hiring and that is where I stand as of right now.

Give Star Truck Rental a call. They will rent you a day cab hooked to a 53' Van, cover the insurance, and set you up with the state examiner for like $250.

Never heard of them. Thanks Roadhog. I do know a couple people who drive trucks but they are not owner operators. So I doubt their company would allow them to let me take the road test in their trucks. I'll figure something out though.

I thought Illinois had them, but after looking at the home page...I guess not.

Look in your area for a similar Truck Rental.
I'm not sure if Ryder or Uhaul do this...unless you get insured through another company.

Someone else mentioned uhaul but I think those are class b not class a. Plus you don't need a cdl to drive a uhaul truck and uhauls don't have air brakes. I'll get something figured out before too long!

U-Haul is neither Class A nor Class B. They are Class C. That is way anyone can rent(and wreck) a U-Haul truck .

If it were me... I would go to PTDI certified truck driving school, or a community college that offers truck driver training. Because no insurance company or rental company will offer a truck for rental or the insurace to cover it to a 18y/o.

I was going to go to a training school up the road from me but they closed down cause the owner retired and the nearest school that takes 18 year olds is in Cuba, Missouri.
