Does anyone know where I can find a news story on a crash that happened today? (Tues) I went past a crash involving a penske rental box truck slamming into a stopped truck in line for the scale (backed up out on the highway). The guy in teh rental truck couldn't have lived. I passed it before the cops got there and am praying it was transmission fluid on the ground :shock:

 

Try Google search the local newspaper. Which scale was it?

 

I belive the scale about 30 minutes s of Mass. it was very ugly. I tried google and yahoo! but I should give it a 4th try 8)

Senseless tragedy. Scalehouse backed up on the highway. DOT left the scalehouse "open" despite the back up.

I noticed the article doesnt even mention that it happened at a scalehouse but "near exit 73". Only mention of a scalehouse is the life-flight helicopter landed in it.

 

That was the one. I unloaded in Boston and had to hustle down to NJ for an afternoon unload. Tied me up for a while, hence making a long day by hitting NYC at 3-4pm.

It looked like the tractor trailer was stopped when it got hit, based on the impact and damage of the little box truck. The driver clearly wasn't watching what he was doing or was preoccupied. hence, always blow a scale thats open and backed up on the hoghway :wink:

The 18 wheeler didn't have much damage. I think it was a black dry box or curtainside. The front end of the box van was smashed in, wayyyy beyond a fender bender.

I didn't read the article, but in reference to the "no mention" to "mentioned", articles tend to change at times as more information comes in or as the writer tweaks it. Generally, they'll get a shell article out there to break the news, then add to it or change it as info comes in. See it all the time in online stories.

 

That is the polite way to put it. Many times the stories go like this:

First Article:

Factory explodes. 700 people dead, entire town leveled.

2nd:

Major fire at factory: 230 dead, 1200 injured, 15000 homeless.

Then when they get to the final draft:

Small kitchen fire in factory cafeteria. All 150 employees will have to bring sack lunches for next 4 days while clean up is under way.
