Default The stinkiest road in America!!!!!

I-78 From north of Harrisburg, PA to Allentown, PA!!!!

HAS TO be the most disgusting smelling road in the USA!!
Along the journey, you can expect to smell play-dough, hog sh*t, rotten moldy smelling dog food, rotten cow parts from a slaughter house and numerous other scents.
Dont get me wrong, I can 'tolerate' "country air". I actually enjoy the smell of cow manure (seriously), but this road is just too much!

Not to mention, I really hope your air ride seat works!! Talk about a washboard!
Then if your lucky, and you can ride the hammer lane for a while (the less of a washboard), you'll be delighted to hit a few certain spots in the road that nearly throw your truck onto it's side.
    WTF!!
Oh yeah, 55mph speed limit is unreasonable too!
Ok, rant over. I feel better now.

---mmmmmmmmmm drool... "rotten moldy smelling dog food, rotten cow parts"... slobber!

...of course...then you'd have to deal with Coyote farts... ooof :P

Any paper mill nearby is horrible. Smells like some really bad coffee brewing. Westvaco puts off a rough smell over near Covington, Va.

We deliver on a normal basis to AFR in Fairmont, WV. This is a pulp mill (they take paper and recycle it into pulp). There are times that the backside of that mill smells like raw sewage.

I grew up near Tacoma, WA. They may all be gone now but, used to be a haven for paper and pulp mills! YUCK!! We used to refer to it as... "The sweet aroma of Tacoma!"

For the first few years, I just thought it was my brother! Talk about your coyote farts!!

US71- north of Texarkana- Ashdown, Ar--

paper mill- like Mr.Ford pointed out--- that is a god awful smell of rotten eggs
    (sulphur)

and those cattle stockyards along I-80 Big Springs, Ne actually any stockyards that near the highway-- actually worse smelling.

how about the worse smelling truckstop parking lots? the one's where the driver's empty out their urine bottles on the hot ashault- letting the H20 evaporate- leaving behind all the bio-hazard bacteria, salts, etc-- and seems like it can never rain enough to wash that smell away!

Wow, 78 is a good one, and I live nearby too.
Westvaco stinks like other paper mills, did pickups there when I ran for Roehl.
Rt 222 near Reading PA gets the mushroom smell sometimes.

    LOL

I picked up a load of cookies from Keebler a few years back. It was a live load and apparently they were just baked. All I could smell was fresh baked cookies coming from the trailer. I only drove about an hour after I picked up before I shut down for the night. When I woke up the next morning I was absolutely starving.

Worst smelling place I ever delivered to, was a Meat Processor in Tarboro, N.C.
I really hated going there. One day, it was so foul smelling, I gagged as I walked from my truck to the check-in. The odor permeated my cloths, and I could smell it long after I left that place.

stinkiest place i have ever been is Parallel Products in Louisville, KY...on the Anheuser Busch acct with Werner, i would have to take outdated, skunky beer to be destroyed. They destroy other liquid products there as well...it smells like rotten fruit...talk about gagging....

It's 65 for the most part unless they have destruction going on.
The left lane is the safest lane on that hiway
Watch out for the garbage haulers, especially at night
The smell is normal for that part of PA, you will get use to it(I did)
Stop at exit 10 and get a good meal
    Anything else?
And if you think that road smells bad, try traveling up PA RT 41 from the DE line to just outside of Avondale, PA on a humid morning. Rolling the windows up does not help.

The only one I can think of offhand is that section of I75 which runs through Kentucky, near some paper mill. There've been sections of road I've encountered which have smelled just as bad, but that's the only one which comes to mind that smells so foul on a consistent basis.

Kentucky?? The one that comes to mind ist the stretch of I75 between Knoxville and Chattanooga just before you get to the later, always same spot. Summer worse than Winter. Also any of the roads down in Florida where they are hauling Sulfer.

I've only hauled to Florida.. twice, I think? It terrifies me just to see a Florida license plate in my own state. I don't even want to imagine life surrounded by them.
