White Castle's have the best onion rings. I can't say that they would get my vote as the best burger, but sometimes you get a craving for the rat burgers. After 3 of them though, I've had enough. :wink:

On the upside, they are really cheap.

I do strongly recommend stopping at a Culver's. Order a Butterburger with cheese. Much better than the Whataburger.

Culver's is in Indiana and Ohio as well. I took the fam to Culvers last weekend. I got the double cheddar butterburger and a scoop of chocolate raspberry custard.

The burger was unbelievable.

I used to go to them back in the 80's, when I lived in Corpus Christi.
Mel Tillis owned and started them.
With a Texas drawl...it's called "Waterburger."

Sorry, but wrong! Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger on August 8th, 1950 in Corpus Christi! The 5th franchise was opened in 1953 by Joe Andrews Sr. in Alice, TX. The first one out of the state of Texas was in 1959 in Pensacola, Florida by the original owner, Harmon Dobson!

No where in can did I ever find in the History of Whataburger, did I find Mel Tillis owning the rights. He may have had a franchise locations somewhere, but he did not start or own the Whataburger Corporation!

Tom Dobson, son of Harmon Dobson is still the CEO!

They still make a great burger, the way you like it! Fries have digressed a bit!

my memory did not serve me as well as Whataburger did back in the early 80's.
I remember all the ads on TV were done by Mel. (at the time) How I confused myself on his role, has me questioning many things now.
Back in the 80's ....weren't they experimenting with subliminal messaging, using TV commercials? :?
In the future, I'll try not to use my memory for facts...just where I ......ummmmmm...where I... ahhhhhh ... * * :?:

Whataburger AND In-n-out are like most things from two very conceited states that think only their state can produce anything great and if it isn't their way then it should be no way. Both are are over rated and lousy!

Hardly,in-n-out is probably the most consistent and delicious fast food place for burgers out there hands down.You can go to an in-n-out any time of the day and the drive thru will have at least 8 cars in it and the parking lot FULL.Their employees are also the highest paid among any fast food chain,I believe theyre starting out at $10 an hour,which is more than most OTR drivers, when you add up the hours spent.lol.

We have Whataburger AND In-n-out here in Prescott....Whataburger isn't that good and IMHO In-n-Out is over priced. Ralleys in the midwest is good, but messy as hell (also have one in Phoenix). Fast food isn't my favorite food anyway. I do enjoy stopping in Wikieup, az on the 93 south of Kingman and eating at Joes BBQ. Joe and Rose did stack trucks and they take care of drivers. Its on the left side at the north end of town. If you ever stop their......its a bit costly but GOOOOOOOOOOOOD. Used to be you could get Joe on the radio and order your food before you got there.

I agree entirely on the conceitedness of both Texans AND Californians! The only thing BIGGER than their hats in Texas.... is their EGO's!!

In N Out has a "decent" burger at a good price.... but those fries are nothing special! I was inside one recently, and the "lackey" kept dishin' them up BEFORE they were even ordered and covering them with a napkin to keep 'em warm. When they became the 9th basket sittin' there, he dumped 'em BACK into the oil to heat 'em up again! :shock:

Whataburger's are actually not too bad for fast food! Been awhile since I'd had one until I started trucking. They haven't changed much over the years since I "dwelled" in Texas! (which is more than I can say for the other fast food empires!)

But, NEITHER are "all that!"

I WOULD tell y'all where the BEST burgers are..... but, that was another thread! :wink:

THIS one is about a fight between Whataburger's and In N Outs!! And, that's pretty much like a mudwrasslin contest between two fat ole ladies!

But, I DO love Texas and Kalifornia!! Without those states, where would be send all the Braggots and ***gots??? :shock:

joes bbq is freaking awesome. too bad i don't go through there very often.
