Default Truck stop cashiers, I dont lik'em...

Is it me or does anyone else notice that most, not all truck stop cashiers either have an attitude or they just think their sh@t dont stink even if they do weigh 400lbs? I understand they gotta deal with ignorant or stubborn truck drivers but honestly like myself, I drive team and sometimes I may wake up from the sleeper and go in the t/s to buy a soda or something and sometimes because they have to do their job by ringing up my soda they get an attitude like its the end of the world.

But the ones that I get the biggest laugh out of is those humungous girls that work at the check out counter and they just think their so beautiful because some of these truckers out there give them the time of day, why I dont know but thats another story.

Avoid the butch at the Flyin J in Smithon, PA.
    God she is miserable!

They are ALL lazy too. I've called Flying J and Pilot near me to ask if they had a certain CB in stalk, and they tell me "I dont know."

    HELLO?!?!?!?!?
Are you at WORK?!?!? Then, PLEASE! WORK!
Do you damn job and find out for me!

Then when I politely asked them to look and see, because I'd be travelin an hour to get there, they put me on hold, then I mysteriously get disconnected after a few seconds.

I think I would have a bad attitude at the end of the day with some of the people they have to deal with on a daily basis. Some truck drivers are just plain rude to even someone who is trying to be nice to them. One guy at the Pilot in Lima, OH was screaming at the cashier because HIS bank card was rejected. What the hell was she supposed to do? If she screams back then she is being rude to a customer.

Jimbpard, holy moly you hit the nail on the head!!! That exact Flying J is one of the ones I was referring to. Like I said one day my co driver pulled in there so I woke up havin to use the restroom and at the same time I was hungry so decided to grab a couple of nice greasy corn dogs. I noticed the young girl just standing there and in kind of a snooty way she says "can I help you" so I said all I wanted was 2 corn dogs and I could hear her let a sarcastic sigh like it was just the end of the world that she had to actually do her job and retrieve me a couple of dogs.

She then asked me if I wanted mustard or ketchup and me being the nice guy I am just said no I had already felt like I was too much of a burden on her, so I paid and left. Its just people like that that upset me and yes I truly understand they gotta deal with a lot of nasty truckers but thats no reason to treat all of us like that.

More and more people just want the paycheck. They don't want to work for it and customer service is going out the window right on the heels of common sense. It is not just truck stops but every where.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

I agree that customer service has gone down hill. At McDonalds I havw always ordered my double cheesebuger with only ketchup, I just perfer them that way. I can't tell you how they can't even do that correctly. Either they come with everything on them or there is so much ketchup you can't taste anything else. And calling customer service, forget that. If you rode a yak into work I am pretty sure your name is not Roger.

I stopped at some tiny fuel stop in the middle of nowhere one night (no clue where it was). The place had a sandwich shop, so I gave the cashier my order. He went over, made the sandwich, laid it on the counter and rang up the order. Then he just stood there. Not once since I'd come in the store had he said a single word to me, not even to give me the total on my order.

So, I pulled out my debit card. He swiped the card, printed the receipt, laid the recepit on the counter and tossed a pen down for me to sign. I politely signed the receipt, put mine in my pocket, picked up my food and THREW his pen back into the kitchen area where it nicely dropped into the deep frier.

Sorry - treat me like crap, expect the same in return.

I don't know.. I've come across some who were particularly rude, but I miss those cute waitresses at the TA in Woodstock, ON, or that one cashier at the TA in South Bend who used to always flirt with me (maybe she was just trying to get me to spend more at the truck stop, but I don't really care :P ).
It's just like drivers.. some are polite, and some can be real asses. Personally, I've found the majority of them to be fairly decent.

A few years ago I stumbled into the Denham Springs, La Pilot at 2 AM and I was absolutely starving! All I thought about for miles was that turkey sandwich on wheat that would cure my hunger and quite possibly help me make it to the rest area on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge (a bridge I HATE to cross at nite-- I'm afraid of large bodies of water )... anyway...

I bothered that poor girl into making my sandwich. She didn't want to be at work or whatever and had the NASTIEST attitude. Usually in such situations I sit on the fence. If you're nice to me, I'm nice and vice versa. I mean, it was 2 AM... I didn't want to be at work either!!! But this night, as she angrily made my sandwich, I just didn't want to put up with anymore bs (don't we deal with enough bs all day long?!?!), so I simply turned and walked out. How I wanted that sandwich.. but I was too tired and too sick of dealing with people's attitude problems!

Whenever you have a bad experience at a truck stop complain to the corporate office. The easiest way is via their official website, choose the "contact" link and send them an email. I have done this twice with TA and once with Pilot. The first time I sent one to TA, the Regional Manager actually called me and the second time I received a call from the Operations Manager of the actual TA location. They wanted further details such as name of person I dealt with or a more detailed description of the person. After I sent Pilot an email stating that their one location was making all customers wait in one huge long line (which caused me to wait over 10 minutes to get the pump turned on), there was a “drivers only” sign on one cash register the next time I went back. Can’t say it will work every time, but they can’t fix it if they don’t hear about it.

If anyone wants to work in an adult day care they should apply at a truck stop. I personally would never work behind the counter at any truck stop. To have to put up with the "supposedly adult/mature" drivers who think that okay public behavior is to be whining, crying, pouting, spoiled, rude, stinky, nasty, and fit throwing would make me go postal on all of them.
If you think you can or you think you can't, either way you are right!

Doesn't matter where you have been, it's where you are going in life that counts!
