Default CDL Training Services and Consulting Inc.

As many of you know I plan on getting my CDL in the next month or so, I decided to go to CDL Training Services and Consulting Inc. They locations all across the midwest but I'm going to the Granite City, IL one. I like the way the program is setup and they do things that isn't require on the Illinois road test. You can get the CDL in 4 weeks if you go full time which is from 8am-4:30pm and part time from 6pm to 10pm. A high school diploma or GED isn't required to go through the program. Which is good for me cause I'll be finishing out my senior year doing the co-op program. Also 30 hours of home study is required but the big reason I'm going is not only for the training but for the job placement. Hopefully I can get one with someone who will let me come in at 11am-noon (school from 8am-11am) and get me home every night.

The 40 hour classroom part is like this... orientation, CDL permit study, endorsement study,j ob procurement, log book, hours of service, map reading, trip planning, DOT regulations, hazard perception, night operation, extreme driving conditions, railroad crossing safety, accident reports, and double trailers.

The 120 hour yard and road skills is like this... pre trip inspection, couple/uncouple, straight backing, 45 degree backing, 90 degree backing, parallel backing, blindside backing, serpentine backing, shifting, double clutching, turns, hazard perception, uphill/downhill, ramps, lane changes, space management, and then the CDL road test.
