    Default "Class of....."

I've noticed a few rigs lately with "Class of 86", "Class of 08", etc on the doors, hoods or wherever.

I'm assuming this is referring to the year they started driving??
Because the truck that said "Class of 08" certainly was not a 2008 truck...

Also, anyone know where you can get your name done up to stick on the door??
Mama cooks the chicken fried in bacon grease, Down the road, Down the road, Down the road a'piece!!

    Adapt and overcome.

Originally, it was a Peterbilt thing. Seeing as Pete used Class in their advertising, owners put Class of XX on the truck indicating what year it was built. Now it appears the training school trash has twisted it to mean what year they graduated from whichever cdl mill they graduated from. This may not be a bad thing, I will now know which trucks to steer clear of, at least until it is 5-6 years past the born on date.

Any vinyl graphics shop could do it. Putting your name on the door is silly looking though.

If I see another truck with "Just Passin Thru" on the back of the sleeper I am gonna puke.
Don't trust anybody. Especially that guy in the mirror.

I always wanted the big 'student driver' logo for mine, so that it might compel motorists to use a bit of caution, rather than cutting directly in front of me. While it probably would have no effect on the four wheelers, perhaps it could prevent some of the professional drivers out there from doing the same thing to me.

On a somewhat related note, the bastards at my previous employer got me pretty good one day. I had to move a bulldozer from Raleigh to Charlotte, and there were dump truck drivers helping me check to make sure the thing was well secured before I left. I should've been suspicious right then and there, because they never do anything like that voluntarily (and I still double checked everything they checked anyhow, mind you). Anyhow, as I'm going down I-85, people are honking, waving, blowing kisses at me.. kinda made me feel like I was stuck in the Twilight Zone somewhere. Anyhow, I stopped at the Pilot in Kannapolis to grab a sandwich, so I just pulled through one of the fuel lanes. As I come back out, I see a bunch of drivers pointing at the back of my trailer and laughing, so I go to see what's so funny, just to find that one of the dump truck drivers had stuck a large pink magnet with the words 'SO GAY' on the back of my trailer at some point. *****s!
So I took it off, but was never able to use it against them, because it wouldn't stick to the aluminum tailgates on the back of the dump trucks. Suffice to say, I always found someplace to stop immediately after I left the yard from that point forwards, to check for things like that.

No need to apologise. I can laugh about it now.. I just couldn't at that particular moment.

I would have laughed as soon as I seen it and took it off and put it on the back of someone elses truck! I know that is immature and childish but sometimes you just got to have fun. 8)

The thought did cross my mind, but I didn't want to do that to some random stranger.

Magnets stick quite well to aluminum with a little superglue or epoxy applied to the back.

I did consider that option, but that would probably have upset the boss man. I was already on thin ice with him at the time, after the incident where a couple of the mechanics and I actually led others to believe that an employee had died, when he was actually on emergency leave as his wife had gone into labour. It turned out to be a bit embarrassing for the management, who were scrambling all over the place to send condolences and such. So, after his wife had given birth, she was a bit surprised to receive a sympathy card from the company, rather than something congratulatory. It was nothing short of a miracle that I wasn't fired for that, so, by the time this happened, I was more or less being a perfect Boy Scout for the sake of not wanting to lose my job.
