    Default My company is next...

...in the line of companies to slow down their trucks.

Right now, our 50 or so company trucks are governed at 67mph. In the next couple of weeks, they're going to be cutting us down to 62mph.

Great - now I won't even be able to pass Swift, JB, etc...

my swift truck can still do 65 with and without the cruise control set. the problem is that the overspeed beeper goes off whenever i hit 63, and it does not give me any time to slow down beforehand. :x

and how much "trouble" do you get into when you have high "overspeed"?
    lose bonus $$$ somewhere?

somebody was pulled into the phoenix terminal while i was there- since nothing ships out over the weekend anyway- to ask my dm if i could take the weekend off at home. from what i saw (with my own eyes) and heard (with both of my ears), a lady had what was considered to be "flagrant overspeed". being flagrant is when you can be fired. her excuses were ranging from, "i'm constantly doing hills, hills, hills, and it's pissing me off!" or, "my jakes don't work and haven't been working since i got into the truck a month ago." her excuses were all over the place. it's really up to her dm at her home terminal if she'll be let go. from what i understand, any overspeed that's 5%+ per trip, is a bad thing. have that percentage more often and the driver will be looking elsewhere for a job. 2-4% they'll be watching you more closely.

mine is mostly accidental. as soon as i hear the beeper go off, i hit the brakes. because of it, i have my jakes on all the time, even on the flat surface or slight downhill that normally wouldn't cause any trouble. it sucks, but at least i can say i'm trying to make it work.

i have my gripes about this company. i'm simply not going to throw them up on a public forum. i'll keep them mostly to myself or good friends of mine who drive for this company, and we keep our gripes between ourselves.
