    Default NEW Delorme 2009 Plus

delorme just released the new 2009 plus http://tinyurl.com/3p8erj

New 16-channel GPS with the next-generation Teseotm chipset for super-fast satellite acquisition times

New Street Atlas USA 2009 now includes NavMode, which puts all the critical GPS readouts on one large easy-to-read screen with a push of a button. It’s the cockpit view you’ve been asking for

Switch between 2-D and new 3-D map views for lifelike NavMode navigation

and the new LT-40 works with Vista...!

ordered mine today so it will be at the house when we get home.

will let you know how we like it in about 2 weeks

    HOW MUCH??????

I was going to dump my laptop based GPS and go with a standalone model, but this sounds like it might be worth swapping out!

I ordered mine with the BlueTooth GPS online Sunday, it also should be there when I get back. Did you get the Plus? The Plus has the phone directory in it and is especially handy finding your pickup/dropoff point. Usually has much better than dispatcher directions (based on the 2008 version).

Rev, go to Delorme.com, they have several packages available. You can choose either a wired GPS (don't know why) or a bluetooth wireless GPS.

Last year their tech support department told me that the 2009 update would have a truck specific routing option! Do not see anything on the spec sheet stating such!

With 2008, it took some tweaking and common since, but it was not bad! Hope they updated their Texas maps. There are several that were re-built, moved or new altogether several years ago, that have not been updated! That annoying off-route - recalculating voice, when you are on the correct route!

    Situation:
As a long-haul trucker, there are necessities upon which you depend: a hot meal, a shower and the camaraderie of your fellow truckers, all of which can be found at the many interstate truck stops. Increasingly you have been finding that these facilities do not live up to your expectations or do not provide the services that you demand.
    Solution:
With Street Atlas USA on the laptop computer in your cab, you have access to extensive information about the truck stops throughout the country. Using the search tools you can quickly locate those that are along your route and, using the Info function, you can quickly see the services they provide. This includes the number of parking spaces, the food that is available, and the bathroom facilities. A quick click of your mouse button adds the truck stop to your route.
    Capability Available In:
    Street Atlas USA 2009
    Street Atlas USA 2009 PLUS

On the tinyurl link, there's a link that takes you to this popup - it's labeled "Planning a truck route"

Yeah, I noticed that after I posted it. I would never use the satellite feature (although that would have come in handy when I was running HHG), but will likely buy this version just to try out all the features.

I heard some people were having trouble with the software... No problems with yours? How long have you been using it?

Thanks Rev., I guess the only thing new there, is they are putting the POI's in the software from the factory. I added them in in my '08 version!

So all I need is a computer in my truck with a printer and buy this program and download in my computer and roll with it? And it said every couple of months update it but I could do that when I got home (internet)? And I guess it might be a good investment to buy a internet connection and buy this GPS program too and download it and should be good to go?

I decided I didn't need the plus version. I have an aircard which gives me access to phone numbers and google earth aerial imaging.

one nice thing about the PLUS is you can click on a street and it will give you ALL the listed numbers on that street. then click the number and it will map it on the street.

sbatson if you have delorme and driver daily log the two can be linked and driver daily log will use delorme's gps for location for all your log entries. no need to look or even know what little town your in just click and it puts it in your log.
