    Default HEY WOT!!! Wake up. I need you...

    I was checking my email this morning and found something from "THE UK NATIONAL LOTTERY

    you have won the sum of five hundred and sixteen thousand seven hundred and seventy eight pounds sterling in our online lottery programme as your email clunged to the winning ref number of XXXXXXX

    For the purpose of claim, contact the claims officer for proper claims verification.
    WOT, being from the UK, does this sound genuine to you? In American, it comes out to just over a million dollars. Could certainly use the money, but what kind of scam could someone be running? (I replaced the actual ref number with X's)
    Destroy the cities...
    and they will rebuild them.
    Destroy the farms...
    and grass will grow in the streets of the cities.

    Destroy the economy of the blue-collar worker...
    and grass will grow in the executive offices.

    The bill has come due.

    Did a bit more checking. Lucy Baines is the "online co-ordinator", so I did a google on that name.

    Tell me about it. Who couldn't use the money. I knew a guy about 15 years ago that won almost 3 million in the IRISH SWEEPS.


    But about 10 years ago, I was contacted by a "girl" in west Africa about getting a trunk sent to my address, then send her a ticket to the States, but one of my boys gave me a site to go to and check it out. It turned out to be a scam that milked nearly 4 million out of a guy in the Phillipines. I couldn't remember the site, so I was hoping WOT could tell me if it was on the level. Well, I found out that it's not.

    Something else to be wary about... One of my daughter's friends was looking for a loan with as low an interest rate as she could get. She found one up in Canada that looked to be on the level. Send $300 to have the application processed, and never heard from them again.

    So, what I just got is already in the hands of INTERPOL, just like the last thing I got.

    The "girl" in West Africa turned out to be a guy sipping margaritas on the beach of the Bahamas, and the photos they sent of her were from a modeling agency in Paris.

    WE'll let interpol go after them again.

    That's crazy, Windwalker. It's amazing how keen these nuts can be, yet, folks fall for those scams. They do sound like a real deal, until you find out that you'd been had. :shock:

    Back when I had AOL, I used to get all kinds of weird emails. Like I do today, if I got an email from someone I didnt know, I just deleted the email.

    If it sounds to good to be ture. Run or really double check it. I never go for that stuff. No such thing as free money.
