    Default Military Funeral

I had the privilage of being a pallbearer yesterday at a military funeral. Walter was a Korean war vet and served in the Berlin crisis. He also said his unit mistaking got called up for vietnam. When a bunch of ole farts showed up he said they realized their mistake and semt em home. I was wondering if anybody else has dealt with people placing a curse or whatever it was on veterans graves?
This wierd lady tied black ribbons all along the funeral percession route and the preacher found her saying things over the grave. So he started praying his hardest to counter anything she did. She finally left.
The preacher said something told him to leave the actual service as quick as possible and get to the grave and saw the woman tying up the black ribbons on the route. Then she got to the grave before the percession and started her voodoo crap. But god took care of it and told the preacher to be there and he countered everything she did. He said he's heard of this group that puts a curse on the graves of veterans.
Alls I can say is this is WRONG!!!!!!

There are a bunch of weirdos out there. You see them on those Discovery shows around Halloween.

I figure, what preacher did and said can't hurt. But I've heard say that curses only have power if you believe in them.

Maybe this preacher should have kept his mouth shut and had a little respect? There is nothing that this lady was doing that could have been seen as bad, unless someone was looking for it to be so.

Maybe I should emphasize the fact that he heard what she was saying over the grave. Being that he heard what she was saying, he would have been turning his back on HIS lord, and the man that asked him to do the funeral.

That is of course if you could trust a preacher to tell the truth about most anything... especially about other religions and beliefs that they MUST minimize...

I can and do trust this preacher. He is not your typical stained glass, white robe wearing bible thumper. I don't know what you are trying to get at. But the man that died was a christian. SO WHY SHOULD A PERSON DOING NONCHRISTIAN PRACTICES AT HIS FUNERAL BE ACCEPTABLE?

NO.... "I" am Mr. Eloquence.... and I'm fixin' to give you an earful of it!

    You said:

That is of course if you could trust a preacher to tell the truth about most anything... especially about other religions and beliefs that they MUST minimize...
Yes, Fozzy, there are preachers who do not hold true to the truth that they were ordained to preach. And I am as disgusted by them as YOU are! But, they ARE in a minority. Most preachers are faithful followers of the beliefs that they preach. MY FATHER, is one of those, and I take as much exception to your denegration of HIM, as YOU seem to take to what you "perceive" to be my feelings about our troops. (including your son!)

I have asked my father MANY times about what he knows of other religions, and since he has a Doctorate, he is well informed! He has answered me TRUTHFULLY, and without malice!

YOU see something on TV about one who has strayed, or failed, or just was a crook (or pedophile) to begin with, and you paint ALL preachers with a broad brush! You are a FOOL!

Would you accept ME painting ALL of our troops as murderers because a FEW of them went balistic? I don't THINK so!

I have no love for the Catholic religion, and the current state of affairs (no pun intended) makes me sick! But, I don't paint ALL priests as perverts!

I don't think you KNOW what preachers will tell you, because I think it is evident that you haven't HEARD a sermon in your adult life!

Yes, BLACK is a symbol of "mourning," but unless it was requested by the family, it was OUT OF LINE! I don't know the facts of this case anymore than YOU do, but it sounds as if this woman was attempting to curse the grave of a Veteran.... and THAT, I will not stand for!

I don't believe in curses, and certainly not those from voodoo fanatics! But, this is a matter of RESPECT for a fallen soldier! I expect a fallen soldier to get the SAME respect as JESUS did.... and I expect the same respect for the "Ministry" of God fearing ministers!

"I" do not agree with ALL of them, but it makes no difference! They deserve our RESPECT as much as some kid who died in a war because he THOUGHT he was trying to HELP Mankind!

And, if I read this post correctly, there seems to be some consensus that this Veterean's funeral was "marred" by some antireligious zealot. I don't see how THAT is any more acceptable than the absolute WORST example of an anti-war zealot!

    What say YOU, Fozzy?

Nope, didn't know nor really care that anyone's father was a preacher. The point was that no one really nows what the woman was doing. This sounds like another over -reaction from someone who is paranoid or less than sure of their own religion. It's really funny just to watch the Republican morons (egged on of course by the helpful media) tear each other apart on their versions of religion.. and these are all Christians and versions thereof? So if these good Americans are tearing each other apart on the differences of the same base religion.. they would certainly go bonkers on something like this. It's laughable at best. If you are cocksure of your beliefs and or religions, nothing that anyone else can do will make you nervous about anything.. a "curse" is laughable!!!

I mean no disrespect-- But What power would this women {if she meant ill will} have to the dead? Exspecialy if the deceased as you say was a Christian? And if it was for the living, those who are Christ are protected by the Blood of Christ. Nothing can happen to a Believer unless God allows it, and if He does He has His reason. Which I have come to learn to Trust in..
On the edge of sleep, I heard voices behind the door
The known and the nameless, familiar and faceless
My angels and my demons at war'

    At war...

Or maybe which voice I ignore...'

    Wilderness of mirrors
    Streets of cold desire
    My precious sense of honor
Just a shield of rusty wire
    I hold against the chaos
And the cross of holy fire

    Wilderness of mirrors
    So easy to deceive
    My precious sense of rightness
    Is sometimes so naive
    So that which I imagine
    Is that which I believe

Typical Fozzy anti-christian response. Can't resist getting in a little dig every chance you can, eh Foz?

Yeah? You mean like digging up a days old post to pretend to be shocked about something... Talk about self control! Why not how some self control yourself and refuse to comment on anything I post... THAT will teach me! LOL..

It's still funny to me that this greatest religion in the world just crumbles and turns whimpy noodle every time something ELSE that they are too dumb to understand happens by. Is it your religion. your belief in it or your god that is so weak?

When these guy's checked in on Base, I would have paid cash money to hear the conversations that day.

Too bad the Honor Guard couldn't have cracked off a few live rounds... you know... a warning shot. :P
Soldier's aren't always respected even while alive, but many more people than not will honor them, and offer them the respect they've earned.

The fact that this preacher thought that there was anything to "counter" proves both a lack of faith and ignorance. So let me get this straight.. some life long christian is going to get side tracked and tossed into the pits of fire and brimstone because some "kook" is babbling something over a hole in the ground? OK...

I should add also that the "man" who was being honored was not there. His earthly remains were. He was already up in the happy hunting ground or where ever. Funerals are really for the living, its sort of like gathering to bury a car. The body transports the soul, or life force or whatever..

Dang...that's as close as I've seen the Foz-meister to expressing his own belief. I tried a while ago to pull that out of him and gave up in a blizzard of accusations and attacks.

So Fozzy...you do believe in "something" beyond the curtain...good for you and that sort of makes all that crapola you've been posting denigrating other's beliefs as just you being you and trying to get a rise out of people.

And I will offer a prayer to whom I believe in for your son to stay safe in Iraq.
