Default Have you ever seen heavy equipment travelling down a street?

Here in Winnipeg, it is VERY common to see front end loaders, graders, etc.. traveling down major routes. We don't really have any freeways.

Does anyone know of any major American city that allows this? I can't honestly say I know of any.

I'm not talking about clearing snow either, it happens all the time in the middle of the summer.

Farm equipment, front loaders, graders, hell I've even seen small bulldozers!

Happens all the time here, just not on the Interstates. We had a construction company that got ticketed by a state boy because they were driving their earthmovers/pans down the highway with no safety vehicles.

It happens on occasion, but will usually be accompanied by an escort. I don't recall seeing a pan on the highway, but have seen front end loads, backhoes, etc., without escorts. Of course, you can see tractors on rural roads most anywhere in the U.S.

Here in Texas, it's quite common to see a lot of Deere. John Deere that is.

Here in Wichita Falls, they are working on HWY 287/HWY 82. We are gonna be big time! They built a "flyover", which are overpasses that over pass downtown. Kinda like Fort Worth. Sorta. Now, instead of going through the stop lights, you can just take the over pass.

Underneath the overpasses, where they are working still, I see them moving equipment quite a bit. It cracks me up, these pesky 4 wheelers get mad, and impatient at the loaders, etc.. :P

Um.... so.... you're comparing Winnipeg (with no freeways) to any MAJOR American city?? :P :P

How ELSE they gonna move 'em up there??? By TRUCK??? That would require TRUCK DRIVERS!!!! :P :P

Sorry, that was just too easy! I'm just funnin' ya!!

That's part of my point golf.

Here it can be kind of ridiculous. Heavy equipment going down a major road 20 mph meanwhile the speed limit is 50 mph.

Ooops! SORRY, if I misunderstood!

I'm with the other guys, though. Down here, especially in the South, it's common to see Combines bouncing down the secondary highways, and even right through town!

Never BEEN to Winnipeg (except virtually through Onstar!) I can't help but think that you guys have a more "casual" view of life up there! Must be nice. I can't help but think y'all would "freak out" at the amount AND SPEED of traffic down here!

They are still expanding roads to meet traffic projections that have allready been exceeded!!!

And those big sandy lots you park your trucks in, next to truckstops?? Not in Cali!!! And New England is worse!! If you see a patch of dirt in "Metro-America" big enough to play baseball on..... it's under construction for a highrise, or an office complex!

So in that case, what did the plow say to the farm tractor?

    Mmmm?

    "Pull me closer John Deere."
