    Default THANKSGIVING or TURKEY DAY?

Share your stories about your best, and worst Thanksgiving dinner...

My best Thanksgiving dinner I had was when I prepared, and cooked the Turkey, and it was juicey, tender, and everyone said it was better than my mothers...

My worst Thanksgiving dinner was, when my family and I went to the home of a friend of their's, and the husband cooked the turkey upside down (thinking that would make the white meat more tender), and ended up serving a half cooked (raw), Turkey to everyone...

Needless to say I didn't eat much while there, and decided I was better off staying home the next Thanksgiving when my family was invited again by these friends to attend Thanksgiving at their home...

Now I know why appetizers play an important role at dinners cooked by others...
HE SAID I HAD TO CHOOSE...
    HIM, OR THE ANIMALS...
    WE MISS HIM SOMETIMES...

Well, this year might be the best one.

For the last 4 years, I have sat at home, by myself on Thanksgiving. My mom is from Fort Smith, Ar. My family go to Arkansas for Thanksgiving. I have to work on Thanksgiving night. There was no way I could eat turkey, and head back to work, from Arkansas. My mom told me that this year, we all will have Thanksgiving here at home. I got married in December (06), and my wife told me that I wont be home by myself this year.

My 'worst' is every year, since I can't cook

Hmmm - so many to choose from...

Worst was probably last year when I spent Thanksgiving at a hole-in-the-wall truckstop somewhere in Alabama. My turkey-day choices were 2 day old cold sandwiches from the cooler or over-cooked hot dogs.

Since I'm at home doing nothing this year, I'm doing all of the cooking. I've got the turkey soaking in a honey brine, making oyster stuffing, fried oysters, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie. No - there will be no cranberries at my table.

Funny-we are having honey brine turkey too. Oyster stuffing, that sounds really good. Can you post a recipe?

Actually the recipe is fairly standard, I guess. Just add oysters to the stuffing mix. I'd post a recipe, but I really don't have one I go by. I just start dumping stuff together.

I saw Paula Deen on FoodNetwork make this stuffing (ya, I have nothing else to do but watch cooking shows now). It looked really good.

My best and worst happened at the same time. It was the worst because it was my first spent on the road and the best because my trainer and his family took me in like one of their own. They actually got mad when I suggested that I should go to a motel.
