Cobra radios, like the 25 or 29 are good radios if you can find one that does not have the soundtracker feature.

Uniden 68 and 78 models are both good radio along the same price as the Cobras. The 78 was my personal favorite.

In either case it is a nice idea to buy one with the weather bands.

If you want a good sounding radio add a noise canceling mic to any of the above radios. Astatic and Roadking makes some really good mics.

Your antenna will do more to help or hurt your radio's performance than anything else. Wilson, K40, and Francis all make quality antennas. My personal choice are the Wilson's.

When you install your radio be sure to take the time to check and set the SWR. Some radios have built in SWR meters, but if you are not sure how to do it or do not have an SWR meter stop by a CB shop and have the SWR checked and set. Too high of an SWR will reduce performance and can damage your radio.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

don't forget the coax.....you can have the best and biggest of everything, but if the coax is junk.....it dosen't matter

Well, it pretty much depends on your personality. If you're a loud mouth, all you really need is a VERY SMALL radio, because quite frankly we don't want to hear your ranting and raving and how you "Aint got no panties on" for 50 miles.
When I get old, I move north and drive slow in the fast lane.

I havent heard the panties dude in OK City in several years. Wichita Falls is 130 some-odd miles from OK City, and I used to hear the red panties dude here. Havent heard him in quite some time now.

That's because he moved to Lima, OH and he never sleeps. Travel through that stretch of I-75 at any time of the day or night and you are virtually guaranteed to hear him.

What about the nut jobs in CO, someone called quarter inch, please tell me that that doesn't refer to what I think it refers to. Husband says he has to turn the radio off they are so crazy but not before he told them they were broke back rocky mountain losers driven tonka truck. I hope they aren't really truckers.

I had a Uniden PC66XL (model prior to the 68) and it was a damn good radio. Best bang for the buck radio IMO.
You can take the driver out of the truck but you cant take the truck out of the driver.
