    Yes, this happened very near my gf's hometown of Lawton,MI, on Red Arrow highway that parallels I-94. His wheelchair meshed into the truck grill in downtown Paw Paw and he went for a wild, almost 2 mile ride down Red Arrow. Most of my Gf's family still lives in Lawton, Paw Paw area and her mom was telling us about it when it was just local news and my gf's brother lives in New Zealand and he even heard it about it way over there. He bacame an instant local celebrity and was supposed to appear on a Letterman-Leno type show, but I haven't heard anything more about it til you mentioned it. Definetely a bizarre incident.
