    Default Min age requirements

I was reading a discussion on another forum where one member said the min age for a class A is 18 and the other said 21. Just wondering, which is it? I told them I'd get them an answer here, and PM it to them to end the argument. Thanks.

In most states you can obtain a CDL at 18, but it is only valid for intra-state driving of a commercial motor vehicle. There are some states where the age requirements are higher.

You must be at least 21 in order to do interstate driving of a CMV.

Thank you for the reply. That is what I figured, but didn't want to get into the arguement and be wrong.

Well, I broke the info to this one guy and he just wants to argue, so I sent him here to see for himself. Told him that there are class A drivers here with more than 1 million miles. He replied with something that hardly sounds possible:

"I HAVE A MILLION PLUS ANOTHER MILLION MILES OF DRIVING ALREADY IM ONLY 22...ALL OCCURED WITHIN THE PAST YEAR IM A SUPERMAN TRUCKER"

Is it possible to get 1,000,000 miles in a year? I think he's full of :dung: . So, I told him to come here again, as there are drivers here that have been driving longer than both of us combined have been alive.

I just did some math, and it is impossible. You'd have to drive 40 hours a day 7 days a week, non-stop at 70 MPH to make 1,000,000 miles in a year. Only problem is there's only 24 hours in a day.

On average it takes a truck driver around 8 years to drive their first million miles.

Yes your "friend" is totally full of it.

I looked at my PA CDL manual, and it said 18 for all three classes. This guy is just an arrogant moron that cannot accept the fact that he got his facts wrong, and lost an arguement with a 15 yr old, me. I refuse to PM him anymore. I won't even call his bluff on the million mile thing. His last reply was "YUCK, A BUNCH OF DIRTY, FILTHY, STINKY TRUCK DRIVERS!" Basically, his story is so full of oxymorons, it's hilarious. He first said "Nobody would insure me to drive a CMV, so I can't drive yet" to "I'm a superman trucker." I don't know about you, but I'm ROFLAO. Buy the way this guy is on the diesel place. I go there to learn about Chevy diesels.
