Crab fish, too cold to be an Ice Roader. -40 and the one driver was worried about his toes freezing inside his truck along with his windows icing on the inside. Crab fishing looks to only get down around +10.

No doubt in my mind. Crab fishing.

Those ice road truckers are nuts.

Not to high jack the thread Fredog, but. Ice road trucking or driving in Iraq?

Crab fish, they make a nice wad of cash for being out there for 8-10 days, plus even if something bad happened you would have someone watching your back. Hearing that ice cracking underneath the wheels would be unnerving to me and if something goes badly wrong on the ice road, your going it alone.

Myself, whenever I was driving on the lakes, I'd be in a cold-weather survival suit with the door open and standing on the fuel tank. The first time I heard a crack, I'd jump and catch the next flight south - wayyyyyyyyy south.

Neither one for me. Only way you would catch me working on a fishing boat is as a cook, and as far as the ice road bit goes. Forget it. I like jobs with a certain amount of safety built into them.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

Drive the ice roads. I hate seafood, and I'm not a boat kind of guy. Though I'd probably rather chew off my left, um, man jewel than do either one.

Honestly BOTH here just to say I did them both. I love the outdoors and cold weather does not bother me. Heck I was wearing shorts in Dulauth MN when it was -35 one day shrinkage was a problem but beyond that was not to bad.
