Default What are the three places you would recommend for vacation?

Since I've been driving I ask people where are the three places that they think would be nice to vacation. That way, if I've never been I always try to go see that particular place.

My three are all out west-since I'm a "mountain person".

    1. Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

    2. Lake Shasta, California

    3. Santa Barbara, California

I've enjoyed past vacations at (not in any order):

    1. Glacier National Park, MT

    2. Door County, WI

    3. Bahamas

Someday, I'd like to go the Great Barrier Reef in Australia!

Any of the Hawaiian Islands has great mountain hikes with some of the longest waterfalls you can imagine that flow into deep pools. Since I live in Santa Barbara I have to agree with you about it being in your top three.

    1) Maui
    2) Kauai (Has the Grand Canyon of the Pacific)
    3) The Big Island
Life is a highway. And good surf.

Great responses guys/gals. I haven't been to my top three on vacation. Although, I've been through all three. I am just speculating that they would be good places to vacation. I guess I should have said places you've vacationed at or thought would be good to vacation at. [Oh well...] I've stopped in Santa Barbara several times since my folks, and two out of three brothers lived in Thousand Oaks, CA.

I'd love to go to the Himalayas and Morocco some time along. I probably couldn't get past the base camp in the Himalayas since I have wicked asthma [breath at 59%] but I'd like to see them some day! I might go to Morocco this year to celebrate my Birthday. Haven't decided quite where I'm going but am determined to go some where outside the country.

I haven't vacationed at any of the places you guys have mentioned. So thanks for the suggestions!

God I love Catalina so much. My dads boss has a condo there. We try to go every summer. It's a golf cart city, gotta love that.

^^LOL. So true about that. What I meant though was that the main city on Avalon, Catalina, Island. is that all the locals drive golf cart's instead of cars.

I have been to Grand Canyon-lived in Arizona for seven years-several years ago. Also, I've been to Catalina Island. It was awesome. It was my first anniversary and my three brothers, their wives, my spouse and I went out there. It was awesome. One of my sneaky sister-in-laws told them on the boat returning to L.A. it was our first anniversary and they sang to us. Glad I still have fond memories. I'm divorced now! HA!!!

I've always wanted to go to Glacier and have driven around it several times. Been to the Tetons and Yellowstone. Perhaps one of these days I'll get to Glacier. I almost went acouple summers back with my cousins but they ended up going down to Sedona, AZ.

Obviously, living in Colorado it shouldn't be a big deal to eventually get up to Glacier.
