    Default Satellite Radio

I wanted to know what you all think is the best service? I currently have Sirius Radio but I have been thinking about switching to XM. I like to listen to the trucking channels and all the talk channels, but I want to know if XM is any different. I know this has been discussed on here a couple of times, but I want to re-visit this.

Their Merger is about to happen and I don't know how that will work with Programming but My guess is that both will be the same. Not sure

I have Sirius, myself. I've never had XM, but a friend of mine does. I think, I will stick with Sirius. I am very much happy.

XM also has a trucking channel and has 700WLW which has the Trucking Bozo. I didn't really care too much for XM's trucking programing but I'm sure some do?

Might look into podcasting? Most of the shows are free to download and others are easy to get. Can pick up a 1 GB IPOD for under $100.00 http://www.apple.com/ipodshuffle/

Then once you start using itunes you will find several more podcast that are only on the internet.

XM has the same typical talk shows that Sirius has.

I like the talk shows that Sirius has. I listen to FOX News, CNBC, and sometimes CNN. I listen to ESPN, and NASCAR radio. Sirius also has Road Dog, which is a trucker's channel. I listen to that every once in a while.

Blue Collar Radio, on Sirius 103. Git r done! :P
Lots of music channels, too. Bunches of them.

I used to truck along when Bozo first started-Steve can't hold a candle to him.

I used to listen to Dave Nemo on XM first thing in the morning and heard a lot of great advice on it. As for the other DJ's on the Open Road channel, I just can't deal with them. They need to learn that not every driver out here now is the same age as they (the DJ's) are. Some more modern music would get me back over to them. I do like to listen to Steve Somers on 173 if I'm running an all-nighter.

Currently XM has the best trucking channel and information. The best personalities and variety. To me the music channels have a much beter variety, and news channels. IF you are into baseball, hockey, and college football, then XM would be your choice.

Sirius has NFL and currently NASCAR, Howard Stearn Oprah if you are into that.

Currently there is a proposed merger of the two companies, as Siruis is in serious financial trouble. The FCC has the final say on this! XM's press release stated that if the merger is completed, the best of the channels from both services will be available across both formats. Duplicated channels will be eliminated and some new channels will be added. XM has issued a guarantee that current rates will not change for either service.

So basically, make your choice now based on what is important to you now, and the system will take care of itself if the merger is completed.

I have personally had both systems, Sirius only lasted for 2 weeks in my truck, as the programming was not to my liking. Even though I miss allot of my NASCAR races, currently on Sirius.

    Good luck on your decision!

I think I will stick to my Sirius radio. I am a NFL junkie and Sirius is the one that carries that for now. As for the other things like hockey, baseball and such......I just don't care for them. Thanks for all your replies.

I have both, but I find myself listening to XM way more. Personally, I think the talk radio on XM is better.
