Default Is there an optimum length Coax??? Suggest an antena also

I am trying to get my CB in good working order and I am going to buy a new coax and Antena (becasue the ones on the company truck are the pits). I have a Cobra 29 LTD classic with a connex board and I am thinking of buying a Wilson 2000 antena. Is there an optimum length coax to get for this setup? I have heard 18ft but, I dont know. BTW, I plan on running a single antena setup and if you want to make a suggestion about a different antena or a certain brand of coax, feel more than free to. The help will be appreciated. If you happen to suggest a different antena, I am not looking to talk to anyone on the moon, I just want something that is very durable and something that is also a good bang for the buck.

Thanks for any and all help.

The Wilson is a good antenna.

Go with the 18 foot of coax. There is actually a formula to use based on antenna height/length, distance from radio, etc, but it is somewhat complicated and the 18 foot length is close enough to get you good performance from pre-fab coax.

Just make sure when you run it that there are no pinches and when you coil the extra do it loose.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

I agree with Uturn. I would suggest an 18 foot coax.
You have a good setup. I also have a Cobra 29, with a Connex board. I have a 5 and a half foot Francis Hot Rod, but the Wilson 2000 is a great antenna, too.

I got the 18ft coax but, I opted for a K-40 antena. It was a bargain at "Loves" so, I decided to give it a try. Seems like a good antena and it seems to get out really nice. Thank ya fellows for the help.

you guys are funny. buy monkeymade. and just have you SWR's adjusted properly, no matter the length of coax.

18 feet is the recommended length. Adjusting your SWR's is only going to do so much.

You don't need a monkeymade, those are made for guys that are putting out big power, like 1000 watts or more for talking on the sideband

Yes make sure you have the SWR checked, it doesn't matter what kind of antenea you have if the SWR is not set properly

i like monkemade because it is guanteed at any dealer in the country with a reciept. also, SWR being set properly can be the difference between having finals in the radio and burning said finals up.
