A Few of the trucks on my crew, and the machine. I guess I got promoted from Water truck driver to Operator.

Seems like around here it's more "road DESTRUCTION" than construction.
You can take the driver out of the truck but you cant take the truck out of the driver.

What a day. Didn't take the camera with me, since it's first day of the season. Hopefully tomorrow if the wind is right, fricken dirty up on top.

This construction company doesn't have any pavers. Just mills, cranes, and other supporting equipment.

I have to say some people don't deserve to be in a truck. How hard is it to see the truck is full, and you might want to think about tailgating the one being filled. It's not rocket science. Have to keep the mill moving.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have better pics.

    Cool pics, keep them comin'

Been on a few jobs where we had to move with the grinder. For most people it is pretty much common sense - one honk go, two honks or whatever the operater wants to do. I was on a job last summer and some of the "foriegn drivers" the county was using could under stand the concept, and of course made a mess of the job. :x

Here's some more. Pretty decent day. Most of the truckers are getting quite good now.

Thought ya might want to see the engine compartment of this beast.

CAT 3408 I think it's putting out 625 or 650 HP. Haven't come close to really bogging her down yet. Overall very good day. Speedo quit working but i'd estimate average speed was 80-95 FT/min, basically moving along really well.

Hoping to get done friday, but probably have some to do on saturday. Then move to probably Hermosa, SD (south of Rapid City). It's probably because the plan can change at least 5 times before we're done.

    Looking back

Thats the 1st time i seen trailers used with a miller. We allways used tri axle dump trucks. Or stright trucks. It looks like the ass end of the trialer is close to the miller.

I can't stand loading straight trucks. They're way too small. Belly dumps are the chiznit milling. Side dumps are darn good also.

Due to space constrictions they were at times only 6 inches way. I usually prefer 3 feet or more.

Maybe, if you'd widen the road, there'd be more room!!

Seriously.... I always thought of construction equipment (pavers, millers, I don't know the names...) as being Heavy Equipment driven by Heavy Equipment Operators. Silly question, I guess.... but do all these machines, as well as earth movers, graders, and bulldozers, require a CDL-A??

Hope you're not paid by the MILE!! And watch out for the cops! You might get a ticket at 85-90 fph!!

Only if it's on a trailer and you moving it. Otherwise no license of any sort is required.

I'm susposed to be more concerned about millings, flying out of trucks, and weight .

Well you sure wouldn't like loading some of the hired trucks dad runs. He's got this one guy with a tandem GMC with about 12' dump body.

Update time. Do I ever miss the internet.

Did some bridge decks. Take 1 3/4 inches off, first pass them take 1/4 off till all the latex overlay is off. Let's put it lightly it sucked. I hate concrete.

Going was slow, and only had a loader on hand so, it was the dump truck for all four bridges. This is on I-90 by Sioux Falls, SD.

    Sand blasting truck.

Checking to see if latex is still visable. Cleaner than using water.

    Close to the edge
