    Default I Hate Vista...NO REALLY....I hate it !

My old laptop fan died and I had over-heating... not worth repairing. It was 5 years old...so I got my moneys worth. But now I just wasted a $1000 bucks on another Compaq Presario with Windows Vista. Yes...what a mistake. It SUCKS in soooo many ways...I am embarrassed to own it.

    I had a choice to buy a Business-class computer with XP...so PLEASE....will someone tell me I am a dumb-ass.

This Brand New computer is slow...stupid...screws up everything...will not use any of my old programs...but THEY CLAIM you can get upgrades and patches...HA...they STILL don't work or have problems....(so don't fall for that sales-pitch) (or ANY of the many sales pitches you will hear to convince you this is the Future OS) I feel sooooo used.

My middle finger is worn out from deleting Securities. You try to do simple tasks and your high-speed internet works slower than dial-up.

Any one here have Vista and like it? :P

I have yet to hear anything positive about Windows Pista. :P

I am going to stick with my XP pro for as long as I can, and if all else fails I may end up giving Linux a try.

If you still have your XP system discs (an actual installation disc, not the system restore discs) you can install XP on your new laptop. If you're not sure how to do it, check with local computer shops, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc - they can do it for you (for a fee of course).

I've got Vista sitting here on disc - Sticking with XP for quite awhile though.

I wondered about being able to dump Vista, and install my old XP. I have my disc's. I also have all my previous files all backed up on a Seagate external harddrive, and most my program install disc's. The new laptop is fine, no doubt...it's just this Vista OS sucks.

Also...I did create a restore disc for this Vista...and one day...I may have no choice but to resort to the "new" OS.

They claim XP is on the way out.
You know what....why???? It worked. Vista doesn't.

Just imagine...all of us will be buying new programs...after we get so frustrated trying to get the XP software to work. Is that the game?

You can patch your old programs...but they won't all work and some will always have glitches....so..I guess you throw your arms in the air and go fork out money for the new programs? SOB's...

Kinda reminds me of Gas Companies. They just screw ya, and you say thankyou....may I have another.

Gas here remakably rose 15 cents a gallon....just in time for Easter.

Two Companies that have no shame and no longer try to spin it or hid it. They OWN us...huh... :?

Who here... will go without their car or computer anymore?
If either is in the shop for two days...you start to panic.

Microsoft took a lesson from the drug dealers. Give away your product for free for a time until you have them hooked big time and then make it so you are the only supplier in town.

I bought a new lap the day Vista came out and I have yet to have a problem. I like Vista, not much different than XP.

What kind of problems are you having?

The only problems with programs I have had was with Sims 2, the skin editor won't work and no EA patches yet for vista.

I have tons of programs i added from my old machine and all work fine. My wife was a Toshiba laptop with xp and I can't stand to use it anymore.

A couple weeks ago, bought a new Dell PC, just the box with Vista.
Being sort of a techie, I thought I would try cleaning up Vista to stop asking me "Are you sure", "You have no permission to ?", etc. No mater what I did, it still ran slower than my old one? Half my programs did not run, and the ones that did, performed the "Stopped responding" bit, I thought if all else failed, I would throw a copy of my XP Pro into it. Then I looked inside, ONE PCI slot, no LPT1, (Yes I have a very cool HP laser printer networked for all the computers in the house), so all new hardware would have to be bought. Also, looking up the drivers for some of the hardware in there, was not XP compatible….???

My first computer was bought in 1980 before DOS & Microsoft, so I know my way around one…..

With in 24 hours I had a RA # from Dell and all boxed up ready for UPS to take it back to Dell, and in 2 days had a credit back on my CC. Funny they didn't give me a bad time in sending it back, must be a very common occurrence???
Since then I had other clients and friends do the same thing with other manufactures..

Now trying to determine what hardware to get and back to building a new home built box..... Then when XP is unusable, switch to my Linux box…..

I'm suffering through vista.. the fact that the program does not like most of my older programs (even Microsoft programs) is irritating to say the least!

I do remember when XP came out.. it was about the same reaction from the users.. so hopefully , this will change eventually

Just like the Tweak UI for XP, I installed it on my Vista and gets rid of all the "are you sure" crap, helps alot. Also a must is running Microsoft Autoruns, it will turn off all the extra annoying stuff on Vista (says it's for xp but also works with vista)

I have added Adobe Photoshop, Jasc paint shop pro, Adobe Audition, MS Streets, and Office. Yahoo, ICQ and Paltalk all work fine.

I had some problems with getting all the networking to work when I first bought the computer, but figured everything out.

Vista has had some problems though, and makes it even easier to use pirated copys. http://www.windowssecrets.com/comp/070315/#story1

Unfortunately Vista will probably be around for a while so going to have to upgrade sometime, but once you get everything tweaked and get it running the way you want it too it's much better than XP. One other big thing is have plenty of memory, Vista needs RAM to run fast.

I have vista, and no problems. If by some chance you do have a problem running a program, do this.

Right click on the icon, and click on properties.

    EX:1

Go under your compatibility tab, and put it under what os the program you normally ran before vista, and also check the run as administrator button, some programs no matter what will need your permission to run, that will make sure it will run when you open the document.

    ex:2

The only down side to vista I have seen is you need to have a computer that has a good amount of memory. If you got one with under 2 gig your dead in the water.

I have a HP, HP and Compaq are known for loading up your laptop with a bunch of extra crap you don't need bogs down your processor. Use the control panel and add/remove programs remove all the extra programs you don't need and install Autoruns, you can turn off some of the things you don't need so your processor will run faster.

I hated Vista for the first week, now that I have figured everything out it's the best OS I have used.

I had XP for 6 years. I was very comfortable with it. I had a good system built up. I'm just ticked off I can't make this transition easily.
Also, many of you are more computer literate than me. I just know...many of my applications are not working well enough for me to wanna proceed any further with hope of getting anything else to turn out very well for me.
Cripe sake...even my Internet Explorer is slow as hell...and jams up a lot. It is so slow I can walk away for several minutes, and it is STILL trying to open the browser.
If I even try to go to iTunes...it freezes and I get all kinds of grief. I absolutely could not download iTunes. Yes you are suppose to be able to. They also say there will be glitches, and nothing they can do about it. Like it will corrupt your iPod if you try to transfer music off your Library and you'll have some other issues. I don't remember all the nightmares...I just went through 5 hours of cleaning the spyware cookies off just visiting the site. HARMLESS cookies....BUT Vista wants to make it into a weapon of mass destruction...and the end of all life.

Honestly wish I could return this to Best Buy. But they are closed today, and I leave early Monday morning for 2+ weeks out OTR.

I just bought a Sprint Mobile Broadband modem. Very simple driver and application. Works GREAT on XP. Even the Geek Squad at Best Buy could NOT get it to respond on Vista. You know it irks me. I'm spending money. I am gonna be out 2-3 weeks with a mobile broadband costing me 60 bucks a month I can not even use....g-r-e-a-t ...can ya feel my pain?

I certainly do not wish to spend all my time off getting frustrated over trying my best to no avail to get this system up and running. I spent $260 so far on Geeks...and I'm not even close to half the system I had with XP. I do have an expensive shiny new laptop that runs on my Charter cable modem like it was off 1989 dial-up.

I am using Sprint Mobile Broadband Mobile on my Vista. While your out on the road find a Sprint store. Some of the Petro's and T/A's have Sprint. I bought my Sprint service in Texas at a T/A, they had all the new drivers for Vista plus I think they know alot more than the Best Buy people.

That is good advice Ben...I'll do that. I didn't bother going back to the Sprint Store I bought it at, because I knew the guy who installed it on my XP laptop was off for the weekend.

I did keep fooling around and have it working off the Windows wireless network. It won't recognize the Sprint software...but maybe like you say...a Sprint guy might help me figure out a patch.

At this point I am not exactly giving up. I'm frustrated and feeling sorry for myself. I wish I would have bought a computer with XP on it...but it's like what I'm gonna do about it now kinda thing.
