Default Found a fuel cap off an old, old truck but...

Remember the topic I posted about how I lost my fuel cap? Well, I stole one off of another truck (an ooooold truck; one that will probably never even be cranked up again), and it actually fits!!! But now I have one other concern.

The past couple of nights in a row my sweeper has sat out in the open with no fuel cap. It hasn't been used or anything, and although it hasn't rained any, in the mornings it has been kind of wet with dew. Do I run the risk of breaking down? And if so, will water in a diesel engine cause damage?

As long as it hasn't rained, you should be ok. The amount of water that could build up should be minimal. Also, the truck should have a fuel-water seperator on it.

It's a 1999 Ford model something (A cabover truck). Maybe it has one on there.

wow, just yesterday we were going to sell an old truck and use that money to feed handicapped orphans and homeless puppies. Unfortunately when the guy came to buy it, it was missing a gas cap and decided not to buy it.
    Thanks
The starving handicapped orphans and homeless puppies.

You might as well say I stole it. But it was an oooooold truck. It's sitting out in the back with weeds growing up all around it. I seriously doubt it will ever be used again other than for parts, which is what I used it for. (It's a 1970 Ford 600)
