Default Sooped up little sports cars.

Well,I just got back from making a run to the bank. I was in my pickup, coming to an intersection not far from the house. It's a four lane street. This purple little car was in the far right lane, and came across 3 lanes, and cut in front of me,so he can get in the left turn only lane.  I thought,"too bad Im not in my buddy's 379. I'd lay on his train horn" :P While our light was still red,I was looking at this kid's car. It sounded like a weedeater. :P After a closer look,I noticed it was a 4 door Chevrolet Cobalt. It had a wing on the back, and fancy little wheels, tires. Had some weird sticker on the back that looked like something you would see on a oversees container. First of all,I thought,"why would you do that to a family car?" I thought about the wing, too. Why would you put on a wing on a car that is front wheel drive? That makes a lot of sinse. :? Beside the point of this kiddo not having a lick of sinse, but why would anyone put so much into a small size family car? I'd rather get me a truck, and go to a chrome shop. :P

while im not a fan of any of those "the Fast and the Furious" kiddie cars.....having a wing on the back of the car has nothing to do with whether you have a front wheel drive car or a rear wheel drive car. Its about holding the car to the ground at higher speeds.

Front wheel drive cars can display an oversteer problem just like a rear wheel drive car. A wing gives more downforce, thus more traction on those tires. That being said, most FWD cars with wings rarely get to any speed where downforce is needed.

< FWD car owner; no wing. :P

These kids make me laugh with their trash-can sized muffler, broken lawnmower sounding, airplane-sized wing economy cars, I bet he thought that he had a really fast ride too. I love beating up on these guys in the Mustang and putting them in their place.

Some of them have watched too much fast and the furious, It's called nitrous stupid, not "Noss"

Yes I know, Nitrous Oxide Systems aka N.O.S. which is the brand name of one of the companies that makes these systems, but when that movie came out all the little kiddies were going around talking about "NOS" pronouncing it "Noss" pretending like they knew what they were talking about

I'm not proud...I'll admit to anything.
Seriously...the first one with Kelly was the only one I really enjoyed. I've felt this has gone down hill ever since....although I liked Carrie for a few songs....but she just isn't as talented as Kelly.
I watch all the Music reality shows. I'm just nuts for music. But I only watch a few installments, and unless I see some talent...then phfffbbbt.
This year looks like it will be the worst yet. I guess real talent is Discovered...not voted on.

Old Timers would say the same thing back in the 50's and 60's, when the kids would "hot rod" out the old rods from the 30's and 40's. They also were family cars.

I'm sure some day those cars will be looked at in a similar light as the muscle cars are looked at today. Shudder the thought.

I would say N is pronounced 'in', the O is pronounced like 'ah', and the S is pronounced 'ess'. Like "n-ah-s".

Do you say NOS a different way? I guess I'm confused. Are you saying people were just saying the word, regardless of whether or not they used it? If so, you're just slighting idiots in general, it's not really related to import tuning in particular.

It's no different than people who call adhesive bandages "band-aids", and facial tissue "kleenex". NOS is generally accepted as referring to a Nitrous Oxide System.

I was just making fun of the idiots who use the word and don't really know what it means, when I talk about nitrous with my friends I say nitrous not NOS

I agree that these kids are just doing what kids did in the 50's, 60's 70's etc by modifying a family car, but I guess because I am from a different generation than these kids I just think it is funny to soup up something that is gutless to begin with

Silly kids useless wings are for penguins

Well, guys, I've had, among other muscle cars, a 70 428 SCJ Drag Pack Mustang and a 69 GTO Judge. I now own a Subaru Impreza WRX, and it's a heck of a lot more fun to drive than either one of those.

Don't let the size fool you, guys. Some of these "kids" are sporting 500+ HP in their little "weed eater" sounding cars. My WRX is close to 300 HP and I haven't done that much to it.

Oh, and one other thing for the original poster since he was in the mood to poke fun:

The term is "make sense," not "make since." Better head back to English class!

While it is possible to trick out a four banger and make it go, the fact remains that those mods will ultimately destroy that engine.

Yeah but most kids can't afford to get 500 hp out of a 4 banger, they just put one of those fart mufflers on their little civic and a non-functional wing and pretend they have a fast car. When a kid pulls up beside me at a red light, with his goofy hat on backwards and starts reving his lawnmower engine I just laugh, I've never been beat by a kid yet

I know an "older" guy who has spent almost ten grand on his Honda Civic and only runs 14's, all that money and it is still not as fast as my Mustang which only has about five thousand dollars in mods.

500HP? R-U seriouse? Regardless, a waste of $ anyway- and annoying the way they race around like that.
